We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyse Cline and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyse, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” by Eleanor Roosevelt. I’ve had that quote in my head and hanging on my wall since I was about ten years old. It speaks to me of the American dream and the ability to be whoever you want to be, all you have to do is put your mind to it. To me, it means working hard and taking chances. It gives someone something to stand on as they reach for what they want in life. If you believe in your dreams then they will believe in you. Chase them and never give up! It’s what has helped me over the years in my business. I always keep that in my mind when I’m tired or stressed or if it’s all getting to be too much doing this for myself. I think of the quote and know that the future is what I will make of it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career in photography started a very long time ago when I was young and I picked up my first camera. Seeing the images that I captured come to life in snapshots that could be cherished forever made me yearn for more. I wanted to learn and grow in that field and do as much as I could with it. It was not at all easy building a wedding photography business from the ground up, but I kept at it year after year and slowly grew with each new client. I think what set’s me and my business apart from the hundreds of others out there is me! Everyone has a unique take on what they see in the world and I express mine through my photography. Getting a chance to capture a bride’s wedding day is such a special moment in my life. I feel blessed to know that I am allowed to not only be a part of a bride and groom’s day but also that they get to benefit from my years of knowledge and experience in this field. Not everyone can pick up a camera and shoot. It takes skill and a careful eye to see the beauty around you, especially in a day filled with so much going on like a wedding. I’ve learned so much from each and every wedding that I do that I love to pass that knowledge on to the next bride. I am not only there as a photographer but a guide as well. Most brides do not have someone to help them when it comes to their big day, but I always try to pass on as much knowledge as I can to help them out.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Georgia is a dream when it comes to places to visit and see, especially for a photographer! Sightseeing down here in Covington will consist of a tour of the town. We have the original 1800s clocktower that still chimes on the hour and half-hour. There are old antebellum houses dating back to the late 1700s. The newest edition of the rails-to-trails walking trail takes you through the whole city and through downtown historic Covington where you get to see a lot of the old homes. Food comes in the form of great family-owned businesses featuring southern cooking, There is the Factory Shoals where you get to step back into nature for a while and maybe see a deer or two.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother deserves all the recognition in my story. She never once in all my life told me I couldn’t do something. I wanted to paint, she said, “okay,” and went out and bought me paints. I wanted to learn to sew, she said “okay,” and helped me learn. I know that I can always go to her with a new idea or dream, tell her all about it, and she will tell me “okay, let’s make it happen.” She’s been with me every step of my journey and my career. She works alongside me at events and always has an encouraging word for me about my images. I don’t know how far I would have gotten if it were not for her telling me to jump.
