We had the good fortune of connecting with Altonio Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Altonio, how do you think about risk?
What do I think about risk and what role has risk taking played in my life/ career? I love taking risk honestly. I feel like taking risk builds character and plot development in your overall life. You don’t know all what you can do until you bring uncertainty in life. In my career and life risk taking had played a giant roll. Me jumping off the porch as far as saying I don’t want to have a job and all I want to do is create was a risk. Being a creative is a risk honestly because you’re the most liked but the most disrespected. It’s not for the weak but I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is an visual experience, with photography you have to be able to stop time and capture the perfect moment. You have to have the ability to draw someone into a world with a single click. I feel that separates me from others. What am I most excited about?? Well I’m moving to Houston next year and I’m ready for that. A new environment and new people to work with makes me happy. Im where I am now because I learned and grew with life. Had to mature and learn all sides of the business. Of course it wasn’t easy but I had to learn to deal with certain situations in an professional way. I want the world to know that Toochillshots is just that . It’s modeled after me. I am too chill. I just vibe and chill as a creative.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t really go out like that to be honest. I’m really introverted so my idea of a good time sometimes changes. I can be in my apartment creating and drawing tattoos, or out spending time at a friends house.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I feel like I can’t just thank one person or group of people. Everything happens for a reason so I guess I can say I have to thank life. From the time I even stared being a creative and the experiences I went through made me into who I am as a person today. All the good and all the bad. All the ups and downs molded me. My major support factors are my girlfriend, mom , sister and all the family I’ve grown along way. Keeping my head up and motivating me on the way even when I didn’t want to get out of bed shaped me in a great way.
