We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie McAllister and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process really came down to wanting to offer a service in a way that I couldn’t working for someone else. I had a clear picture in my mind of what the patient experience would be like at my own practice, from the website, products available, aesthetics and vibe of the office, but especially the level of care and results I could provide when I had full control.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My medical career began as a pediatric ICU nurse but my passion for skin health and aesthetics led me to get my nurse practitioner degree specializing in facial aesthetics. Getting your first aesthetics job is a huge hurdle most injectors face. I was determined and applied to every plastic surgery and dermatology practice within an hour’s drive. I worked part-time and nannied to make ends meet just to get that initial experience. I went on to work in Plastics and Dermatology for seven years before opening my own practice in 2021.
I’m a firm believer and advocate for continuing education. Patient safety is always a top priority, eclipsing even aesthetic results. Some of the best educational content I have received has been in the form of live conferences and the community that is created in an intimate conference environment has inspired my career. This is so important to me that I co-founded an Advanced Aesthetic Training Conference with my business partner Jennifer Pilotte, NP-C, in 2020 and have hosted top aesthetic thought leaders from around the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
After grabbing an oat milk latte from Dancing Goats, I’d take my friends on a morning stroll through Piedmont Park. Next up is A blow out at Tinte Salon in West Midtown followed by the best manicure in Atlanta, at You’re Gettin Nails with Adele. Time to refuel at one of my healthy lunch spots, Upbeet. Then a quick stop by The Atlanta Injector at Lemmon Avenue Atlanta to stock up on skincare goodies. It’s finally time for Dinner at Rumi’s Midtown and after a little convincing one last night cap at Bar Margo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Two people,
1. My husband- Who has been my biggest supporter since day one. He’s listened to my creative brainstorming on hour long walks, helped with anything the least bit technology based, and given me a crash course in finance and business. I know that I would have started these companies without him but it wouldn’t have been nearly as successful.
2. Jennifer Pilotte, NP-C- We founded Cult Aesthetics Training Conference together in 2020. She has been a mentor as I navigated opening my own practice. In the competitive world of Aesthetic Medicine she shares her recipe for success and is forthcoming about failures with 100% transparency.
