We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Cramer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Becoming a mother of 2 children under 2 years old changed my perspective a lot. Most might think “you started a business during THE busiest time in your life?” Well, ,yes, because I realized how fleeting motherhood is. The beautiful, sometimes mundane, and tiny details pass by more rapidly than anything I’ve experienced in this life. I wanted to catch any memory I could, as to freeze it in time. and I wanted to do the same for other families. To capture people’s love in the way that I see it, through my lens. Secondly, I didn’t want my boys to grow up thinking it was “selfish” to follow your passion. I want my children to see my love for my craft and to inspire them one day, to realize that maybe, your character is brightest when you’re doing what “lights you up” the most.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider my art to be as raw and authentic as possible. While I do guide my clients, my favorite thing to do is watch how they interact. How they exist. How they love and how they communicate. I pay attention to the real life moments happening before me, and do my best to capture it. Sometimes people don’t see themselves the way others do, and have no idea just how beautiful they are in doing even the most mundane things. It is always my goal that people can look back at their photos and *feel* the moment. And *feel* that moment from a viewpoint they didn’t know existed. Like how warm it feels to see yourself with the love of your life beside you.

During every day life, I pay attention to my surroundings and watch people. The little hand holds on a sidewalk, laughter between mother and child, the way someone’s eyes sparkle in golden light. These moments stay with me and help me translate those small details into my photoshoots. It’s not about the “say cheese” moments, but the real life ones. My journey here hasn’t been easy.. it’s been a lot of observation, a few classes, hardships in finding balance of mom life and work life. Difficulty in curating my own, unique style and being consistent. But the human connection, artistic expression and LOVE I get to witness truly makes it all worth it. My hope is that when people see my work, they recognize these raw moments captured.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably start by going to Krog Street Market to grab a bite to eat at Superica. From there, grab some coffee from Little Tart, then head out to the east side Beltline for a walk. The Beltline is a great spot where you can make frequent stops at different bars like Ladybird and Victory— some favorites. But being that the North Ga Mountains, specifically Ellijay, are about 1.5 hours away, I’d definitely get a cabin after the city activities!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My best friend, Brooke Couch! She’s a phenomenal photographer who I look up to the most. Brooke has dedicated so much of herself to her craft and it inspires me to keep going! Even more than that, Brooke is an incredible human. I believe all of the good she puts out into the world, and her infectious positivity, has shown me true “success” comes from what you “give” to others.
