Meet Alistar | Rapper & Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alistar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alistar, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was gifted with a family, that has unique creative talents that prepared me for my journey as an up and coming hip-hop singer/rapper. My mom, an advanced level dancer able to take on many styles anywhere from Rajasthani folk dance to hip-hop, gifted me with the ability to dance and have an ear for rhythm. She has even put on shows and created her own record label. On the other side, my dad is an advanced writer and spoken word poet, which genetically is where I’ve received my literacy for writing the lyrics for my music. He has written countless books, and has gone on to host many shows for other talented individuals. With that being said, it was only a matter of time before discovering my purpose and soon to become the person I was destined to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an up and coming Hip-Hop rapper, singer and songwriter. I’ve been creating melodic music for the last 2 years. My journey as an artist began parallel to that of other successes in my field, because I had reached my lowest point. Music has been a vessel for me to manifest and speak my dreams and the life I want into existence. Today, most of what you hear in the music game is doing drugs, being a player, getting girls, and buying nice things. While that may sound appealing to the masses, I’ve embodied a brand that represents class and wholeness. Everyone loves boss energy, so why not do it in a way that keeps people feeling good rather than trashy. People are waking up, and I plan to be apart of that change.

Furthermore, for you and your journey, it will come across as hard and even impossible at times. The realest and most important reason for how I got to where I am today, is because I never lost faith in myself and I always believed that my dreams would happen. I’ve had to grasp onto the faith I carry for myself through my darkest and lowest points. Whether it was people I knew, industry professionals, and just about anyone you could imagine, I’ve had to hold on to the very idea that one day, things will be different. More so, I continue to run laps around adversity as my efforts have landed me on radio, critically acclaimed blogs/sites, and more. The key is that just about anyone can do it, but very few can continue without giving up.

Though at first glance you see an artist and creative, but I strive to become someone that not only inspires you and your dreams, but to become the architect of our next chapter in life. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve only recently started staying in Panama City Beach, FL, as this is the current place my journey has brought me. Although I spend almost every minute on my craft, I’d like to share what the best day out and about has been for me. We’d start our morning off for brunch at First Watch, which has incredible food to eat. Next, we’d head to Pier Park for shopping, possibly a little ice cream. Now that the car is full of clothes from Forever 21, we will put our new bathing suits on and head to Pineapple Willy’s for drinks and riding Jet Ski’s to our favorite Alistar songs. As the sun begins to set, we will go to Pirates Cove for mini-golf and finish with a dinner at Carrabba’s. Though the local talent is amazing to watch at the bars, for this occasion, we will head to Longboards for drinks and the best hip-hop vibes to end the night off. If you’re lucky, you may even see me performing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate where I’m at today to the countless blessings that books have had on my life. I’ve read numerous books that have taught me about understanding people, how to attract a better life for myself and even the ability to think anything into existence. If you want to transform your life, I recommend reading the books that transformed mine: Think & Grow Rich, The Power of Now, The Celestine Prophecy, and How to Win Friends & Influence People. I never liked reading books growing up, yet the knowledge these books have had on my life has brought me so much closer to fulfilling my dreams. I suggest you do the same, just remember all things come from the root power of believing in yourself.
