We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to provide affordable accounting and bookkeeping services to individuals, small and medium businesses. The company I modeled my business after; rates were a bit steep and I notice clients with lower budgets didn’t get as much attention. All of our clients are treated with integrity no matter the budget.

What should our readers know about your business?
Handle Your Business LLC prides itself on providing affordable accounting services that is accurate and precise. What sets us apart from others; are we truly care about our clients and treat all clients, no matter how small, better than family. We got to where we are today by working hard and working smart. It was not easy to get to where we are today.  We try to stay as balance as possible. When things get rough, we step back and re-evaluate and re-adjust. The lessons we have learned along the way is to work within our means and ask for help when needed. I would like to world to know that we will continue to grow, improve and bring the best of ourselves forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend visits me for a week, we will take time to relax. During this time of covid-19, we will practice social distance and stay home as much as possible. We would have movie night at home and game night at home. We will order food from Black-owned businesses. We may catch a movie at the only drive-in movie theater in Atlanta (Starlight.) Picnic in the park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So, is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my employees/contractors Sheryl McKenzie and Deborah Boykin. Sheryl is my auntie and a great worker. She is loyal (have been with me a long time) and a great trouble shooter. Deborah is a longtime friend and a dedicated worker. She is excited about learning new skills. I also would like to shout out my clients.
