We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Joynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
I totally disagree with the statement, “wait until you have all your ducks in a row before you get started.” If I waited for the perfect time to start, I would never find the right time. I encourage everyone to “adjust their crown and go get what they want.”

What should our readers know about your business?
Encompassing a distinctive gift in service and teaching, Alicia has a passion to serve young girls and women through empowering initiatives. In 2010, Alicia founded Beautiful Butterflies, Incorporated, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls to be confident, socially poised and ambitious by engaging them in their communities, building their self-esteem, imparting social skills, increasing literacy and encouraging sisterhood. In addition, Alicia is the principal consultant for ANJ Consulting, LLC., a boutique consulting firm that aids with the formation of non-profits and small businesses. It is their motto to “make your dreams come true by doing the start-up work for you.” In 2020, she started Virtuous Adornments LLC., a boutique retail business that creates adornments to inspire every woman to walk into a room with her head high Confident in who she is.

I wear many hats; however, they all align with the same principle of “being the best version of yourself” whether it is in business or your overall life. The road to get to where I currently am has not been easy. It required a lot of sleepless nights, early mornings and sacrifices, but those are all a part of the cost of being an entrepreneur. As a business owner, I pride myself on providing quality products and great customer service. As a mentor, its important that my mentees look at Beautiful Butterflies (BBInc) as an extension of their support system. The greatest lesson that I have learned is self-care. I am no good to anyone or my businesses if I am depleted so, it is important to pour into yourself as often as you need to in order to be the best version of you for others.

The world should know that Alicia Joynes, is an Ambitious Girl who has dedicated her career to public service and women’s empowerment. She continuously strives to initiate change in disadvantaged communities. Moreover she is a strategic visionary focused on progress and is building a legacy of developing and implementing public programs to facilitate guided growth among youth. It is her life’s mantra and encouragement to all to, “Adjust your crown and go get what you want!”

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my mom tribe who molded me into the woman I am today, my big sisters who push me to be the best version of me; the mothers’ of my mentees who allow me to be a part of their daughters lives and my butterflies who challenge me to be better so that I can pour into them.
