We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfred Harris and Sean Wiltz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alfred & Sean, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea really started from a personal need—I was planning my son’s birthday party, and all he wanted was video games. No bounce house, no clowns, just a chill, fun gaming experience with his friends. I looked around and couldn’t find anything that was flexible, affordable, or offered something beyond a packed gaming truck. So I thought, “Why not create it myself?”

My thought process was simple: I knew if I had this problem, other parents and event hosts probably did too. I wanted to create a business that could bring gaming, fun, and energy to any space—whether it was someone’s living room, a backyard, or a venue. I also wanted to keep it flexible for all types of events: birthdays, weddings, adult game nights, corporate events, and more. I figured if I could fuse my passion for gaming with my experience in managing people and creating fun, family-friendly experiences, I could build something people would love—and that’s exactly what I set out to do.

What should our readers know about your business?
Game Fusion Events is a mobile entertainment company that brings video game experiences directly to your event — whether it’s a birthday party, wedding, corporate event, or neighborhood block party. What sets us apart is our flexibility and creativity. We’re not limited to a truck — we customize setups based on your space and your vibe. We bring VR adventures, retro gaming stations, 360 photo booths, tabletop games, and even themed party setups with signature drinks through our event partner packages. We’re truly a “plug-and-play” experience built for all ages.

I’m most proud that this started from scratch — just a dad trying to plan a cool birthday for his son — and now it’s turned into a business that makes people smile and brings families and communities together. Was it easy? Absolutely not. Me and my partner Sean, funded everything out of pocket, learned on the go, and wore every hat from marketer to mover. But each challenge just proved how badly I wanted it and how much I believed in the vision.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is: start messy, but start. You don’t need all the answers to launch something special — you just need to care about the people you’re serving and be willing to grow through the process.

What I want the world to know is this: Game Fusion Events was built with heart. It’s not just about screens and controllers — it’s about joy, connection, and creating memories. We’re bringing the fun to YOU, and we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alright, if my best friend was coming to town for a full week, I’d make sure they got the real Atlanta and Gwinnett experience—a mix of fun, culture, good food, and of course, a little gaming and chill time.

Day 1 – Welcome + Soul Food Kickoff
We’d kick things off with lunch at Busy Bee Café in Atlanta—because if you haven’t had real Southern soul food, you haven’t lived. Then head to The Battery for a Braves game or just to walk around, grab drinks, and soak in the energy.

Day 2 – Chill & Game Fusion Pop-Up
Morning at Piedmont Park, maybe rent scooters or hit the BeltLine. Afternoon, I’d surprise them with a mini Game Fusion Events setup at the house or a park—controllers out, retro games, VR headsets, some fun drinks, and real-time bragging rights.

Day 3 – Day Trip to Helen
Head to Helen, GA for tubing, German food, and small-town charm with mountain vibes. It’s an easy reset from the city and a good laugh if someone falls out the tube.

Day 4 – Foodie Day in Gwinnett
Gwinnett is a global food paradise, so we’d hit Sweet Hut Bakery, get pho in Duluth, and finish strong with Korean BBQ at Breakers. Maybe stop at Jeju Sauna to relax, laugh, and sweat it all out.

Day 5 – Explore ATL Culture
Visit Trap Music Museum, High Museum of Art, and a stop at Slutty Vegan for a crazy good burger. Nighttime? Lounge vibes at Whiskey Mistress or dancing at Suite Lounge.

Day 6 – Black-Owned Tour + Chill
We’d support a few Black-owned shops and brunch spots, maybe hit The Village Market if it’s open, then wrap up at Atlantic Station for shopping or a movie.

Day 7 – Sunday Wind-Down
Start with brunch at Toast on Lenox or The Real Milk & Honey, then maybe church or a walk at Stone Mountain Park. Chill night back home with good music, spades, and leftovers.

Overall?
We’d balance fun, food, community, and downtime—with some friendly game night competition mixed in. And honestly, I think they’d leave saying, “I didn’t know Atlanta—and Gwinnett—had all this!”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
No doubt—this journey wouldn’t be possible without my family. My wife and kids are my daily motivation, especially my son who was the original inspiration for Game Fusion Events. That simple birthday wish for a gaming party sparked everything. I also want to give a shoutout to my business partner Sean Wiltz and close circle of friends who’ve supported every wild idea I’ve had, helped me test setups, and gave honest feedback when I needed it most.

And I have to recognize Brent Sobol, who planted the seed of entrepreneurship in my mind years ago. His lessons about using “other people’s money” to grow a business and thinking beyond a paycheck truly shaped how I built this company. Also, major respect to the small business community in Metro Atlanta—seeing others build from the ground up reminded me that this dream was real and reachable. I might’ve started this alone, but I’ve never walked the path by myself.
