We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexus Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexus, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind PaintedbyLexx Beauty CO. Was if anyone can do it I can too! Alexus, just stop counting yourself out and stop sleeping on your talent. I wanted to make someone, anyone feel beautiful and I have always been complimented on my makeup, which makes me feel my best and I wanted to share with others. If I can’t be the president I can still make a difference with a conversation and a painted face! Also, just do it! You can profit from this but it was bigger than that for me, placing a smile on a person face was my motivation because, like I did that for a person which made me smile and feel better as a person.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me aside from all the other wonderful MUA’s in Valdosta, GA is yes I love makeup yes all the colors are beautiful things we can create with our brushes but, I focus more on clean natural beats! My top beauty service is a Natural Beat this is what I am known for and without a doubt love to create. I’m excited to see where I will actually end up at. Yes my business is slow as of now due to just having a baby and staying safe during this ongoing pandemic. I’m honestly proud I started and stepped out of my comfort zone and created a name for myself. I’m proud that my name is being mentioned around the city and how far my artistry has come. I’m where I am today professionally because I built it by myself, I waited my turn and congratulated ones before me. Stayed professional by representing my brand with my best foot forward. I’ve always respected anyone who has sat in my chair and applied constructive criticism to make me better, my brand better. No, it’s not always easy and actually when I first started I lost a wedding party which was my first ever due to lack of knowledge and taking someone else advice not saying don’t listen to others but just make sure you always do it your way, make it your own! I shook that off and came back stronger, actually then started popping and gained clients I thought would never sit in my chair. I’ve learned many lessons but the biggest one is to never stop even when it gets slow or trying, consistency is key and being you will get you far. Do not change your image of your brand just to fit in or to compete. I’ve learned to stay true to my vision no matter the time period. I want the world to know that yes I am a small town makeup artist and yes I have minor set backs for major comebacks. But my brand PaintedbyLexx Beauty CO. Will one day be bigger than I imagined and that’s the goal! With my brand I just want to make everyone who sits in my chair happy and let them know they are enough and worth it. This is why I always provide a listening ear when painting a face because the world is cruel and you could make a person day by just letting them vent. My brand welcomes all and allows everyone to be themselves. I just want to leave my mark and make everyone happy which I believe is in progress.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, first of all in the itinerary is to visit back home which for me is Willacoochee, GA I take all my friends back home and we party on my parents porch, and eat a crab boil in the country baby! The Hall’s porch stays lit! Willacoochee is literally 44 miles from Valdosta, GA. Next, okay it’s Tuesday which is Taco night we going to either Magaronas Mexican restaurant or downtown to El Paso Taco & Tequila it doesn’t matter both spots has great drinks and awesome vibes. Wednesday is giving let’s get dressed really cute and go for dinner at 306 North restaurant as we can grab some cute pictures and their food is top tier! Thursday, how I wish the Bleu Pub would shake this pandemic because this is the spot to be with your friends. The entertainment is out of this world with some really good food and drinks. Friday, we could hit the bars in Remerton. I’m slick a homebody I partied out in college but Valdosta still hits for some fun times to share with friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my fiancé, family and friends! Seriously, if they did not push me I would have never walked in my makeup artist journey.
