We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexsis Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexsis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk taking is one of the best and most important decisions you can make in your life and your career. Risk taking has taught me so many things about life , who I am , the kind of people I want to surround myself with, what I like and what I don’t like and how I perceive the world and life itself. Me moving to Atlanta was a risk take I’ll forever cherish.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a movement creative artist or in other words a technically trained dancer. I started off dancing at the age of 8 years old when I attended the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts school. I have trained in many different styles such as ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz , acro and now HipHop and Heels. Dancing has taught me that there’s so many different backgrounds to each genre of dance. Dancing my whole life has also taught me life lessons such as being committed to a specific goal and working hard towards it. I recently moved to Atlanta from Buffalo New York this past January to further my dance career. This far I have already been apart of an Mentorship program that allowed us to travel on a two city tour, I got accepted into a dance Agency and now I am a faculty Contemporary Dance Teacher at Dance Stars of Atlanta also known as *DSA. All of that in less than 6 months is crazy to me but I can’t be anything other than grateful because this is what I prayed for and worked hard to get to. Overall I just want people to know that your dreams can surely be your reality. Anything you want you can have, continue to have faith and never stop pursuing your dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My bestfriend actually is coming to visit soon and I would love to take her Downtown atlanta. We would explore the Aquarium and art museums. Places to eat and drink would definitely be a hole in the wall spot like Daquiriville. Another nice place I would take my bestie is to Southern Fire Kitchen. The food is amazing and the drinks were even better! Last but not least we would walk the belt line and just explore the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Someone who deserves a lot of credit in my story is my grandmother. Iris Applewhite or as  I know her as (Nanie) she is literally my biggest fan, supporter and bestfriend. A lot of things in my life I would not be courageous enough to accomplish it it wasn’t for her. She loves me for who I am and always had the best interest. She’s my Angel on earth and my superhero.
