We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has played a major role in my success. When the opportunity presented itself, my business partner and I decided to step out on faith and take a risk on a product that is much needed in our business community. Taking a risk led to vending machines placed at all sites throughout the Atlanta area. I understand that if you want success risk is be apart of the equation.

What should our readers know about your business?
A & J vending stands out among others because our service is customized to their vending needs and our vending machines are provided at no cost to the consumer. High traffic businesses are able to earn a percentage of the profit. We are excited about the vending machine business because we are able to provide a great product and give back by offering e-courses to the community on starting a vending machine business. I earned a degree in business, read books on how to start a successful business and money managing and I had a great mentors. I believe that anything worth having isn’t going to be easy but with the resources, it’s manageable. We overcame obstacles by hiring the appropriate staff and finding needed resources. The most important lesson we learned in this business is patience, finding locations takes patience and persistence. A & J vending is dedicated to serving the community and we enjoy providing service with excellence, we provide immediate on-call refills, customers are able to customize their products which includes healthy choices and we also provide on-site repairs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love little Alley’s for dining and then we would go for cocktails at the the W in downtown Atlanta. We love supporting minority business so we would shop with the local boutiques and visit some local night spots. We believe the most exciting places to visit are Pasha, Batsi, and Blu.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My business partner, Jason Fair has been my inspiration and a pillar throughout my journey. Also, my mom has always encouraged me to become an entrepreneur at a young age and create generational wealth.
