We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Jayde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis Jayde, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.” I’ve heard this quote in several different variations, but the message is always the same. If it’s worth it to me, then it doesn’t matter if I’m doing it perfectly or doing it the best, as long as I am doing it! Consistency is so important in business, in life, and even in love. This quote reminds me that even when I am doubting myself or not feeling my best, I am still worth that consistency. My art deserves that consistency from me. And creating is the most healing thing for me, so even if I only have the spoons to do something small, it’s worth it. I am always worth it. YOU are always worth it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is so much meaning and emotion behind a photo, whether it’s from the subject of the photo or the photographer, and that’s what made me fall in love with photography. I am most proud of my ability to connect with my clients during a shoot. The goal is for them to feel comfortable and confident. As someone who lives with anxiety, it can be hard for me to step out of my box sometimes. But when the camera is on I feel like I am where I’m supposed to be! And I want my clients to feel that kind of affirmation when they work with me! Photography is the outlet, but my true passion is connecting with people and making them feel good. What feels better then seeing a really great picture of yourself?!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a great weeknight happy hour! We would definitely hit up my two favorite spots: Georgia Beer Garden and Boogalou. During the day, we would walk through Piedmont Park, because the views really are worth the hype. And OF COURSE we would have go to SkyView, even though I am so afraid of heights. I like to ride every couple months to keep life exciting! I would have to make sure the trip was scheduled when there was a Blaqueer Artist Market happening, because that’s where we’ll find best weekend vibes, the best people, and the best art. Lastly, we would have to visit Nourish Botanica because the owner is so sweet, the shop is so cute, and they sell dried flower bouquets, so my bestie could have a cute souvenir to take home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people closest to me have always been supportive of my creative dreams. From building my website and managing my social media, to hiring me to capture all their milestone moments. Whenever that imposter syndrome tries to takeover, these people have been there to remind me that I am talented and my ideas are valuable. Thank you to my family, I love you!
