We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Atkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea behind my business by turning my pain into purpose and being passionate about it. Long story short, I’ve survived 2 very mentally and physically abusive relationships, I’ve been bullied into depression and anxiety, as well as had my fair share of insecurities. The point of me sharing that is not to make anyone feel bad for me but I share my trials and tribulations to encourage others and that is how my business started. I want and need to share a space with other girls and women to let them know just how powerful they actually are even during their worst days. I am building a community that empowers and uplifts each other in every way. Whether you follow my insta blog, watch my youtube videos, or purchase an affirmation candle, I can promise there will be some inspirational message to keep you going, glowing, and growing.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from most is that this is not just a business to generate funds but I am on a mission to heal souls. I am super transparent because I want to connect with the people that trust me enough to listen what I have to say or make a purchase and that is what I am most proud of. My products come from the heart and I would do anything for someone to be inspired or to heal from them. I got where I am today by never giving up on the assignment that has been placed on my life. No matter how hard it gets I am determined to prevail until I see the full fruit of this work. I will say that this journey is not for the weak, and that is why it is so important to know why I am doing what I am doing. Knowing my “Why” is what keeps me going when I feel like giving up or start to doubt myself. Most importantly I’ve learned that this is a process I have to trust and that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes hard work, dedication, and A LOT OF FAITH! If there was one thing that I would want the world to know about my brand, I would want them to know that it comes from the heart. My business is a product of my life and it will continue to grow and get better overtime because I plan to continue becoming the best version of myself, and that flows into my business and community.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I have to give credit to God. This is the Lord’s vision and I am just the temple seeing the mission through. He guides, protects, and covers me through it all. Secondly, I would love to give a shoutout to my Mother. She always encourages me and keeps me going when things get tough. When I am exhausted, empty, and feel like giving up(we all have those days) she is the one that helps to remind me of who I am. She is a strong woman and that helps me to want to become better each and every day. My mother shows up for me and holds me down at my events, pop up shops, literally anything. When no one else is there for me I can always count on her.
