We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis A. McCoy Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis A., do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?

My favorite motto or quote is “Entertain to change the world” by me. I created the quote as a motto for my company. I would always say if entertaining is my passion and changing the world is my goal why not entertain to change the world. This quote means so much to me because it keeps me creating content that will have an impact on the world. Everything I create is to help change the world around me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everything that I create is all about spreading Gods love and helping people be better versions of themselves. That’s why I created Love Is Enough Productions because I wanted to show the world the different perspectives of people of color. I take pride in showing the many different facets of the human race, especially people of color because it educational moment for other races to learn about our culture. Coming from a very diverse background I have made it my business to produce events, films and play productions that gather people from all walks of life.

Did you face any challenges in your career? If so, explain how you overcame those challenges.
The person I am today in my career wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me hitting rock bottom 6 years. When I left graduate school I had no clue who I wanted to be or what I wanted to do in my life. Everything that I had planned had fallen through and I was back in my parent’s house working as a drama teacher. Something I never imagined myself doing. 6 months passed and I received an opportunity to work for a film festival in the Connecticut Area. I quickly accepted the position. I packed everything in one suitcase and left for New York. I rented an Airbnb for two weeks until a family friend had a room available. I slept in a room with five other people on a blow up bed for two weeks. It was probably one of the most traumatic situations in my life but I was so determined to make things work I pushed through it.

My plan was to finish my job with the film festival and work for a big network. I applied for many different jobs but none of them wanted me. When my contract ended with the film festival I had to make a decision to go back home or stay and follow my dreams. I sat and I wrote a pro’s and con’s list and my pro’s out weighed my cons. I made the commitment to stay and follow my dreams. From the moment I had made that decision it was non-stop grind working two jobs and writing. By the end of the year I had completed my play production and paid the down payment on the theater to present my first play in New York. By spring I had produced a sold out play production in New York and the following year I produced another play production and a charity art event. All of my dreams began to come true. I was living out my dreams.

What is the biggest lesson you have learn?
The lesson I learned is that change of plans is a good thing. When I came to New York my plan was to work for a big network and then open my production company. But that wasn’t in God’s plan for my life. If I had followed my plan I wouldn’t have ever been able to raise $5,000 for non-profit organizations that impact the community. I wouldn’t have been able to produce my play production “I’m A Different Kind of Woman” during women’s history, a play created to embrace and celebrate the beauty of all women.

I want the world to know Love Is Enough Productions is a brand that is here to help continue to change the world around us through film, plays, events, and photography. Everything we create is made with love and to spread love to anyone who needs it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I am new the Philadelphia area. But if a person were to come and visit me for a week I would take them to the follow places.

First we would go is The Amish Market, which is filled with so many amazing foods and fun little shops. I love going to the florist shops to get beautiful flower arrangements for the house.

Second day we will go checkout the Fashion District that has 3 to 5 blocks of stores. I enjoy the variety of different stores and all of the wonderful art they have displayed throughout the mall.

Third day we would go is to El Vez Mexican restaurant for food and drinks. What makes this place to nice? The décor is a great place for wonderful pictures.

Forth day we would got to Clark Park Farmers Market they have everything. You can get your some fresh spinach and new pair of sunglasses all same time. You can sit out in the park and enjoy the music and fresh air or good cup of coffee or tea.

Fifth day we would go is Max’s Steaks. You can’t go to Philly without going to Max’s Steaks to get a Philly Cheese Steak.

Sixth day we would go is Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the amazing exhibits.

We would end the week with brunch at Louie Louie a place great for their bottomless mimosa, and their amazing monkey bread.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I wouldn’t be the producer I am today without many the wonderful people who have invested in me. One person I would like to shout out is my wonderful friend Robin Brown the founder of Robin Laura Events and JB Originally Rum Punch. When I relocated to New York City after graduate school. She opened up her home and gave me someplace to stay and lay my roots. Within my first year, she helped me produce my first sold play production and may other projects. Since she has entered into my life she has motivated me to continue to fight for my dreams. There were moments when I felt like I made a mistake moving to New York City. When things seemed impossible she would sit me down and speak possibility back into me. Without her being one of my biggest supporters while I take on the big city I probably wouldn’t have accomplished half of what I did. So shoutout to my sister-friend Robin Brown for always being there for me and supporting my dreams with no limitations. You’re amazing and I love you very much.
