We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia Dugger-Maye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My personal life and career life are almost East and West of each other. I’ve had to take many risk in order to do the things I’ve done and it has made me so strong. If I hadn’t taken risk, I may not be the inspiring person so many people have told me that I am. When I’m able to help someone from my own experience, or when I see myself on that TV screen acting, dancing, or seeing amazing photos of myself I’m reminded that it was all worth it. I feel like taking risk is a part of success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One thing that makes my brand different from others is it consists of an umbrella of my talents. It’s sort of like my own agency. I dance, model, act, and many times I help others around me to do the same. At first my brand began during Covid when I started a workout program and selling TLC tea products. I had not quite branded myself at that time, but officially did when I hosted my first ever Halloween party and centered it around the Lexi Experience. I am where I am now from evolving over the past few years and opportunities that I never imagined falling into my lap. I call it Gods provision for my life. Ive learned that persistence, networking and overall never giving up will take you a long way. But the most important thing for me has also been being in the right place. I am from Birmingham,AL where there is so much talent, but not enough resources. Being in Atlanta opened up so many opportunities for me and showed me a life I had only seen on TV. Now to be able to say I’ve lived in those moments and continuing to grow in it has been life changing for me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would honestly prefer going somewhere that I haven’t already been. This would be a time I try new things, new food, new drinks, a complete new atmosphere. That way we would both be getting the same experience! I love entertainment districts because you can eat, drink and wander into new places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first want to thank my mom. My mom is the reason I branded myself and is one of the first people to see me for who I truly am. She has always had my back and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without her and God by my side. I would also like to thank my support system, which consists of my friends and boyfriend. Near and far the love that I receive has kept me going on days I didn’t think that I could keep going or felt like I wanted to give up. It truly takes a village and I am so grateful to have mine.
