We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Clinton, SC. I grew up in the country where traveling was a luxury. My mother took us on trips almost every summer and I realized that everyone deserves to see the world. Traveling is the world’s classroom and what better to learn about the world than seeing it for yourself? I started my business to give working families a chance to do more than work and create memories for their families.
What should our readers know about your business?
BaileyVacations is my travel business and what sets me apart from the others is my passion to help others and my dedication to helping others see the world. I am most proud that with my business I am free to create memories for my daughter and not break the bank. I got where I am by taking a chance and investing in me. I am a shoe fanatic and it was nothing for me to spend money on shoes but eventually they need to be replaced, more money. One day I decided why not invest in something that will last? It has not been easy as I allow things to get me unfocused, and not be consistent. The more I stepped out of my comfort zone, the more people I talked to and the more I showed up for myself the easier running my business became. I want to the world to know that I am serious about my business and I’m serious about helping others see the world and still be able to keep a roof over their families heads. Get up and see the world and show those babies there is more to this world than what they see in their backyard.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting the area we would go to the American Breakfast club for food. We would also go to the Aquarium and the botanical garden as those are my favorite places.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest shoutouts goes to my mother Belinda Gleaton and Shanice Lloyd. My mother was a single mother of 4. Growing up and watching her never give up on her dreams. She now has her own business being a wedding decorator and watching her create these beautiful memories for others on their biggest day is phenomenal. Thank you for giving me your work ethic and guidance for all these years. Shanice Lloyd is also a phenomenal woman. She pushes me and the others around her to continue pushing. She is a mom of 4 boys and she is a great inspiration for me. She reminds me daily to get out of my own way and keep pushing. She runs her own janitorial business as well as her travel business and she always shows up when I need her. Thank you ladies for paving the way for women like me.
