We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I needed a coping mechanism to assist as I grieve the loss of one of the most important people in my life. It was originally just a thing that helped me get away from sadness and grief. It turned into my greatest idea yet.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Jans Girls has been a labor of love from the start. From discussions on vintage fashion, started by my grandmother to our earring collection that is ever evolving. I always find it important to keep things interesting. I like to do that by switching things up. I like to make one-of-a-kind pieces that everyone would like to have in their collection for years to come. There’s nothing like seeing your vision come to life and I get to do that every single day. They are days where I do get what I like to call designers block. These are the days where I just can’t seem to come up with a good idea or get my hands moving on a piece that I’ve been holding onto for quite some time. I overcome those days by spending time looking on Pinterest and getting color and style inspiration. Pinterest is and always will be a lifesaver. I like to ask my friends and family for advice on what they think would work best. I have been able to build a brand that is a continuous work in progress..

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d love to start off with brunch at first watch. I want to follow up that up with Shopping at the forum, and then a nice walk viewing the scenery at Jones Bridge Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like to shout out my grandmother. Janet Elizabeth Hayes Jones was one of the most important women that I have ever had the opportunity to experience in my life. She showed me what unconditional love, incomparable care and unbreakable passion truly meant. Id also like to shout out my parents , my girls ,and the love of my life for continuing to encourage me daily.
