We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Kaufmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always wanted to have a career in entertainment. At a young age, I really wanted to be a visual effects artist, and then an animator, but I as I got older I started a graphic design and have been pushing that passion further for the last few years. Currently, I am trying to build a career in the movie poster and entertainment marketing industry as both of my passions for film and art tie into it. It is kind of the first thing I have really stuck to for a long time and something that I am continuously passionate about so why not keep pushing?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So, I mainly make alternative film posters and some original artwork as well. I usually try to refrain from making generic designs and try to stand out or do something a bit creative and clever. Over the years I have won a few awards and gotten noticed by directors, actors, and even the head of marketing at Disney, which are accomplishments I am quite proud of. I have been making digital art for a few years at this point and it definitely wasn’t easy as I was never really that good at art, nor did I know how any of the software I use today worked. So it took a lot of practice and time to learn and get better, looking back and old work, it is crazy to think that I thought my work was good compared to what I make today. So overall it was really mainly perseverance and determination that got me to where I am and it is what will take me further in my career. Nobody is ever really good at anything in the beginning and it takes time and effort to get better. I make the art that I enjoy making and hope that other people enjoy it just as much as I do, and maybe even take some inspiration from it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not on to plan much, but I guess I’d go downtown, walk around, and just hang out and find some cool nearby stores and restaurants. Since I’m a huge movie fan, I’d probably take them to a movie. Also, theme parks are great so if it were a week-long trip or so definitely go to a theme park for a day or two. I’d mainly just be really happy to hang out and have a great time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely a huge shout out to all of the digital media teachers I have had in the last years. Mr. Conrad was my first teacher and definitely really motivated me to pursue a creative career and was the person who got me started in the first place. All of my current professors continue to have a huge impact on growing my skills and becoming better at what I do. Lastly family and friends and even random followers continue to be huge supporters and they keep me going. Everyone deserves credit and has helped me pursue and made me want to continue pursuing this career.
