We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?

Sure. “Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard” As a native of Portsmouth, Virginia I grew up a big fan of Allen Iverson. I would hear him quote this time after time in interviews and documentaries and it always stuck with me. It is 100% true. I believe we are all gifted with at least one great talent in which we do something very well effortlessly. Although if we don’t continuously work on that talent it can go to waste. From the opposing perspective, if you work hard at something you can become just as good or better than anyone who is doing the same thing. I like how this quote can be pretty much used in all fields of life with almost anything you are working towards.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Fitness10x has been a process. I started this brand/company back in 2013 in Raleigh, NC. The brand was created originally to promote health and wellness specifically through being physically active. Exercising to be precise. After finally passing my exam and receiving my certification in personal training I quickly began training clients. Once I started, through word of mouth and random gym spectators, I was able to grow my clientele very quickly. Fast forward two years later I moved to Houston, Texas where I am now located. Of Corse it was a challenge to continue business after losing NC clients and marketing for new clientele in Houston. Eventually I decided to transition from training to selling athletic and athleisure apparel. The transition was by far the most challenging thing I have ever done with the company. Training was much easier. After years of continuously staying active I found myself at times getting bored with my routine. One thing that spiced up my workout and increased my gym motivation was wearing new gear. Whether shirts, shorts, or shoes, I always had a knack for purchasing the right athletic gear for the gym. Comfortable and fashionable at the same time was what I searched for. When Covid-19 surfaced it slowed down everything and gave me time to sit down think and plan how I could make my own athletic gear and here I am today! Although still a certified personal trainer and still conducting virtual trainings occasionally, the addition of athletic apparel to my brand is the first step of a new promising beginning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Houston, I would definitely take them to eat GOOD. Turkey Leg Hut, The Taste Bar, and The Breakfast Klub are a must if we have a whole week. We would hang out between Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown Houston. A trip to the galleria mall is essential.  If they are here on a Sunday Chapman and Kirby Brunch is a must also!!  And of course, one morning walk or jog at Buffalo Bayou Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

First and foremost the man upstairs. This has all been able to happen and continue in his will through prayer and gratitude. My parents who have always believed in me, my success, and been my #1 supporters. All the clients I have worked with who gave me a chance to be their trainer and trusted that I would help them with their personal fitness goals. All my friends, family, and peers who purchased Fitness10X apparel before its launch. The ones who reached out and said, “Hey I want some gear”. You know who you are, and I will forever be grateful! Last but not least my good friend Will owner of Pro Look Media who has ALWAYS been beside me in helping create my brand from top to bottom.
