We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexa, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Like Journey said “Just a small town girl” from Vicksburg, Ms. I received my bachelor’s of science in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University and shortly after I launched my first business, Nights by Nicole.
I have many influential people in my life that have made me the woman that I am today. When I was a little girl, my grandfather would sit me down and we do basic math problems ALL the time, even during the summer. This was the start of my love for math.
One of my favorite cousins, Mike, was at Mississippi State pursuing an engineering degree. He would come home and talk about his classes and co-ops, I wanted that; I wanted to be an engineer, just like Mike!
My high school math teacher, Mrs.Nutt, was very influential in my high school career. She made sure that I took every math class that my high school offered.
I know you’re probably thinking, what is she talking about? what does this have to do with a boutique? I love the boutique for the fashion but I really LOVE the numbers. I am able to use my analytical skills to ensure the logistics of my business are top tier!
What should our readers know about your business?
We always get asked about the meaning of Eleven03… It’s our birth months combined!
Eleven03 is a boutique for the everyday woman. It began when we, Aaliyah and Alexa first met in college as random roommates. As best friends that are as close as sisters, we started dreaming of a business that could celebrate diversity and provide beautiful clothing for women of all shapes and sizes while giving back to the community. Today, we are proud to offer a handpicked selection of the best and most flattering pieces for our clients.
I am here today because of God, my solid foundation, and my work ethic. It is definitely not an easy road but I know what I am capable of.
I am most proud of the community we have built and our ability to make every woman that walks through our doors feel amazing. Our customers are our family and it’s always great to see them walk through the door.
I want people to know that we love what we do and we take it very seriously. We have our customers in mind with every aspect of our business whether we’re selecting new merchandise, changing the layout of the store, or creating content. We pay attention to all of the details, all of the comments and we use this to create a better experience in-store and online.
The biggest lesson that I have learned is to take action. You can make ALL the plans in the world but if you don’t take action, you won’t grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was in town for a week, it would be a week-long party! We would brunch everyday, my favorite spots are Owen Brennan, Another Broken Egg, and Brother Juniper. We would go shopping at the nearby malls. I hate missing my workouts – so, we would have to go to one of my workout classes or biking at Shelby Farms. I love a good spa day so we would go get massages and facials! Also, my husband and I throw the best house parties so we would definitely end the week with a party!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this to my mom and my grandma. I wouldn’t be the woman that I am to day without them. They have always pushed me to show up as my best self. I cannot thank either of them enough. I love and appreciate them so very much!
To the person that I bounce ideas off of ALL the time, my husband. Thank you so much for supporting me and all of my wild dreams!
& to the engineering crew – We made it!
