We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Wyche and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Due to the world sitting idle during the 2020 pandemic founder Alex Wyche had to figure out how he could continue to get student-athletes college and professional baseball evaluations. He noticed that in the baseball arena coaches had no way to evaluate because there were no events or games. Alex then created a social media platform that showcases skills not on for minorities at his high school but minority kids around the country. The platform immediately took off.
Alex thought why stop there let’s set CoVid protocols and put on an All-American event that will further showcase 50 of the top high school minority players in the country. The All-American Game took place in Mobile, Al at Hank Aaron Stadium. The game featured the kids of former Major Leaguers CC Sabathia and Andrew Jones. Four of the original All-American went on to be drafted by Major League Organizations.
Minority Baseball Prospects (MBP) is now the creator of more than 25 annual programming events, assisting and spotlighting athletes from grade school to professional levels. MBP offers a variety of events such as skips clinics, parent/coaches forums, showcases, tournaments, and All-Star Games. Another Marquee event and vision of founder Alex Wyche was to execute an HBCU All-Star Game that brings more awareness and light to HBCU’s. In 2022 the 2nd Annual HBCU All-Star Game was hosted at Truist Park, home of the World Series Atlanta Braves. Bringing Homecoming to the ball park was the vision and it came to life with 6,000 fans watching HBCU Baseball!
Minority Baseball Prospects continues to highlight in game footage on all social media platforms. With the power of social media, MBP’s platform creates a spotlight and provides much needed exposure to college and professional scouts.
Minority Baseball Prospects is proud to have a strong supporting arm from its non profit, MBP Helping Hands. MBP Helping Hands helps to create the complete player by serving the needs off of the field in the educational and mentorship realm of things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me and my organization apart from others is that I had the opportunity to teach in the high school and middle school system for the last 15 years. Coach baseball and teach has allowed me to see the needs of our youth. For Minority Baseball Prospects baseball will be the vehicle to teach life and provide growth experiences that our young men and women can carry into their adulthood.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a huge fan of the Atlanta Beltline. Well designed with walking trails, restaurants and areas to take in nature. I am a visionary that loves to take in my thoughts. I am vegan, so I love to explore new vegan restaurants in the Atlanta area.
I am so locked in on the vision for Minority Baseball Prospects so I watch as many baseball events and games that I can. Always a good time at Trusit Park, home of the world champion Atlanta Braves.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Would like to give a shout out to Greg Goodwin. Goodwin is know as the Godfather of black baseball. Formerly a head coach at Redan High School. Redan is known as the top baseball programs in the country. One of the only African American programs to win a state championship in baseball.
Greg Goodwin is the founder of Mentoring Viable Prospects (MVP), MVP is been instrumental in organizing such an important summer showcase tournament. Team from around the country have the opportunity to showcase and be exposed to college and professional scouts.
Good is famous for these words. “We started hearing about how black kids were not playing baseball, and we knew that wasn’t true,” Goodwin said. “A few of us decided, ‘Let’s put a tournament together.’ We thought we would do it a couple of years and be through with it.”
Goodwin has been a true pioneer and leader for minority baseball in this country. Extremely grateful for his services over the last 40 years.
Success is when strategies you have implemented to change the world, actually change the world!
