We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Snazzy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
My background and upbringing played such an impact on who I am today. The pretty and the ugly. The downfalls like me struggling with the death of my mother and u healthy family relationships. Majority of my teenage years were difficult emotionally, starting at age eleven when my mother abruptly passed from stage four inflammatory cancer. Being the oldest in my family and noticing true colors of my immediate family member around the same time at 11, formed a a Rough situation unfortunately, through this however, it made every part of the man I am today. Pain breeds a lesson. Lessons will never not be beautiful. Pain can make you durable upon the reaction you make. I am a passionate soul despite all the affliction. Guess what? I’m stronger, wiser and more self aware than ever before. So this is why I love this question haha and I think everyone should take a look inward in learning and loving everything about you. Because for me the good, bad and the ugly plays a big role in strengthening your spirit and soul. Everything I do is in honor of my mother , breaking certain generational curses, influencing all four of my beautiful siblings and most importantly. All glory to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With my art, I harmonize by learning from my art , ever heard the saying everything happens for a reason? This happy reality provides healing from what I create. We have all heard the saying that art imitates life. Obviously that’s true because the creator ,creating is a reflection in this thing called life, one’s life is inevitably gonna reflect a true and honest artist. With this, I use it to fuel my pursuits passionately because good Healing and therapy is hard to come by in this cold world so when you have it look at it as a blessing and hold tight to it like a warm hug. That’s what I do with my art. That is what my art is. Healing. I pray God continues to bless me to keep going on this learning journey, healing is the tool for life that my music and modeling brings to me. My cup feels full whenever I am doing anything music , modeling or art related. Modeling gives me a way to connect with the audience without words but still manage to provide a concept that makes myself and the audience feel. The objective is for us all to feel and heal. With music , it’s a deeper and somewhat more personal side to me. I have always been a big music lover. Any genre can bring a mood out of me. My sole intent with my music though is to use the healing I get from making music and help someone out their in the world in their own individual healing journey and to glorify the blessings that God consistently bestows on my life. Despite all my trauma. I am a blessed child, by always striving for peace. I keep peace in my mental. So through certain trials and tribulations in my life, my music is a healthy time and space to reflect so that is what I do! with music I focus on my lyrics because the things you say to yourself are powerful so my goal is always to make music for the soul.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city are little five points , the belt line. I love the nature spots too though like Stone Mountain and west side reservoir Definitely a vibe! I love little five points because of all the thrift spots! Thrifting played a HUGE role into my fashion sense. My favorite item that I’ve thrifted would be my teddy bear Jeremy Scott’s , if you know you know!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success is in honor of my late mother. Her legacy of positivity, kindness and leadership is what drives me to be a better human.
