We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have learned that taking risks and getting out of your comfort zone always makes you grow. I took a big risk when I left my home country, Colombia to come to the US to start a career as a dancer. 7 years later I reflect and feel grateful for all the challenges that I have been through, my achievements, and the wonderful people I have met.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a dancer and creator, I have learned to trust and believe in myself. The biggest challenge is not the world around you but yourself. The way you approach life, your perspective, and your mindset are what’s going to make you or break you. I have gotten where I am today by taking risks, trying new things that make me feel uncomfortable, dreaming big, and thinking positively. Lately, I have been reflecting a lot on mental health and positive mindset because how you fee and how you think is going to affect every aspect of your life and your success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A weekend getaway to the Georgia Mountains. We would visit Vineyards, go hiking, go tubing on the river, rent a cabin, and connect with nature for a few days.

I would also go to the city downtown, and walk through the art street. Go to the art museum, do a beer tasting. and try different tapas restaurants

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Kennesaw State Univerity Dance Department and Pasofino Dance Studio have played a big role in my development as an artist. They Have guided, supported me, and given me a platform to showcase my art. My parents of course have been essential in my journey and I would not be where I am today, without them. I am always so grateful for their continuos support.
