MEet Aleigha Wraychelle | Artist & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleigha Wraychelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleigha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The main thing i was seeking when starting my own business was freedom. I thought that if i could create for a living i’d feel better about working and work wouldn’t feel so exhausting. I definitely thought of freedom first, and feeling a sense of ‘joy in the unknown’ immediately after.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So i’m a collage artist (for now at least). I’ve played with and experimented with all types of mediums, mainly painting for many years but collage gives me a different type of control when it comes to conveying ideas. I’ve always done art & always created privately but i never thought it could be pursued as a career until i went to SCAD. Leaving SCAD was super difficult for male because i really enjoyed art being my [home/school] work, i just didn’t enjoy the level of creative structure i had to have. It was super difficult making that decision and i honestly didn’t tell anyone i’d left for months. The only thing that got me through was God, i prayed and cried a lot but there was always a sort of spiritual reassurance that everything would be okay. There were so many lessons along the way, namely, ‘speak with authority when sharing your ideas’, ‘know yourself’, & ‘hold onto faith’, i strongly believe that literally anything is possible; there are so many stories from so many different people that seem unreal, but they are. Anything is possible. I would love for the World to know that my art is vulnerable. Anytime i make a collage or create, I channel an emotion or a message or an experience i’m going through at the time. It’s like a peek into my inner-world. (Hence WraychellesUniverse)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmm, if my bestfriend was visiting i couldn’t say i’d have many places to take them besides out to eat ! I stay at home mostly but definitely a nice sushi spot, maybe MF Sushi or OSHA. There’s this one lounge/bar called Octopus bar that i love, their oysters are amazing, a cute little walk down the beltline, maybe a hike at one of the many trails, Zonolite nature preserve has the cutest little beach, Piedmont park would definitely be a must-do on the list of places to go. I can say these are my favorite places at the moment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God deserves all the recognition in my story. I left school not knowing anything about life or how to go about it, I had a lot of baggage i needed to heal from, so many transformations were happening around me. Ultimately it was faith and prayer that carried me and continues to carry me through.
