We had the good fortune of connecting with Alanna LeBlanc and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alanna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creating is just the language I’ve always known. Whether I’m taking photos, writing a script, or recording music. Creating is the only way I know how to process through the big feelings, small feelings, and all the feelings in between. So in short, I see no other way for me than to be in a career like this.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I’ve always been enamored with storytelling. I started young sitting down in front of the the television watching Jurassic Park, Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, Young and The Restless with my grandfather, and just about anything on the movie channels. There’s just something so moving about the way you can sit down in front of a television with a show or movie as one person and come out of it as a completely different one. So this love had me end up at the Georgia Film Academy and every film opportunity I’ve had has come from it. It’s been such a fruitful thing in my life and I am still connected with alumni and instructors. I’ve since gone on to write and direct my own short films, get into film festivals, and work at Moonshine Post and A+E Networks as an Assistant Editor!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First and foremost, is a Muchacho brunch…and if we don’t get out of the house on time, it’s a Muchacho lunch. Through and through. Another great place for lunch is Sweetgreen, top of my list for sure. Then for coffee, I’ll take them to Spiller Park, Dancing Goats, or Bellwood + The Victorian in EAV. Then, a good place to end up for dinner and drinks in El Tesoro.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So thankful for Kate McArdle’s helpful and compassionate spirit. She continues to help and look out for Georgia Film Academy students way after we’ve graduated.
