We had the good fortune of connecting with Alaiah Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alaiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought progress behind me starting ny business started when I got diagnosed with several food allergies such as dairy, eggs, corn, peanuts, soy, shellfish, beef, pork and chicken. Which caused me to have a very difficult time finding food and desserts that don’t contain anything I’m allergic to so I decided that since I went to culinary school it can’t be that hard to make food I can eat delicious and taste like the foods I’m used to eating. So Confections By Alaiah was created.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It definitely wasn’t easy getting where I am today which isn’t where I aspire to be. Being an entrepreneur is not easy by any means you work 24/7 365 days you are the boss, employee and marketing team. The challenge that I am trying to overcome is getting my business main stream because I am in a land of my own. I learned along the way that you have to be determined and not be afraid to fail.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My itinerary if my best friend to visit would be to first breakfast at the chicken and the egg aquarium, then to pounce city market for lunch, drinks and games there. Then we will go to the putt shack the adult mini golf. Lastly, the ferris wheel to enjoy the lights and the view the city at night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and best friend for supporting and encouraging me to purse this dream.
