We had the good fortune of connecting with Al Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Al, how do you think about risk?
Without risk you don’t grow. However, I wasn’t much of a risk taker in the first twenty or so years of my professional career, therefore, I wasn’t growing my skills and thought processes. And it wasn’t until starting my sales training and consulting business that I became familiar with taking risks. All of a sudden I had no salary, no benefits, and no guarantee that the business would be successful. Now, we train and coach our clients on the processes involved with risk taking and decision making and help them grow through those processes. Many people feel they would have to sacrifice whatever they have now if they took a large risk on something like their career. However, it is not a sacrifice if you believe that what you are going toward is better than what you have. If you can handle the worst case scenario, then there is no reason not to take the jump. In my case, the worst case scenario would be that I would have to take a job selling for somebody and rebuilding my savings. My wife and I both felt it was worth that risk.

What should our readers know about your business?
Sandler Training by Simon, Inc., is a sales training, coaching, and business development consulting company based in the Metro Atlanta/Peachtree Corners area specializing in teaching business owners and sales professionals to be effective and consistent with their business development strategies, tactics, and attitudes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our favorite places is hanging out on our back deck with family and friends with something on the grill. We also enjoy golf and watching the Braves with our son and grandkids.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife, Sherry, my son, Rob and my daughter, Allison and the book that most influenced me is written by Steve Farrar titled, “Point Man”.
