Meet Akelliah Iman | Hair stylist/ Entrepreneur

Risk taking can be scary! Personally, for me risk taking is a synonym for faith. Every risk I’ve taken I’ve trusted God with the outcome, and of course I put in the work that needs to be done to achieve the goal as well! Taking risks has benefited my business tremendously because I didn’t let fear talk me out of success. Seeing how risk taking has impacted my business life, and personal life, it only makes me want to take more risks.

I am a licensed cosmetologist. I have been licensed for the past 5 years, but I began my hair stylist journey at the age of 12. Each day, and each year, I’ve learned something new and grown so much within my career and also personally. I love to sit back and reflect on where I began in my career. It truly makes me appreciate where I am today. This journey has truly been amazing. I’ve had my good days and my bad days, but from experience I’ve learned to look at each situation as a valuable lesson. Then I apply it to my life, so I will not have the same repeat problems. One of the most important lessons I have learned thus far, is to remember that it’s okay to not have it all figured out, just be eager to learn, and to think positive. I’m so blessed and grateful to be the the entrepreneur and hair stylist that I am today. I give all credit to God, he has paved the way for me.

I am a foodie! I LOVE to try new restaurants and different types of food. My favorite restaurants in Greenville are, Otto Izakaya (Japanese Cuisine), La Parrilla,(Mexican Cuisine), Halls Chophouse (American Cuisine), And Saffron (Indian Cuisine). If you enjoy wine tasting, I recommend that you try out City Scape Winery! This is a great place to hang out in Downtown Greenville. There are a lot of great restaurants, shops, and bars downtown, and we have the beautiful Falls Park there as well!

I am so grateful for my amazing parents! They have been so patient, caring and supportive of my dream since day one. I also want to thank my mentor Nakeeda Cunningham, she has given me so much business advice. She’s part of the reason why I am where I am in my career now! I’m truly grateful for them all! And of course I can not forget about my amazing clients and the ones who have supported my dream along the way.
