Meet A’Janay Eleece | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with A’Janay Eleece and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi A’Janay Eleece, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My grandfather was a guitarist. As a child he often introduced me to various styles of music and of course taught me a few things about guitar as well. He was a Jazz fanatic, which plays a large part in my creative process as an adult being that in a way it shaped my ear. Singing and performing has always been a true passion of mine. Witnessing my grandfather indulge in his passion instilled great determination in me. I knew when he was here as well as after he passed, that this dream would be my reality.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am A’Janay Eleece, an up and coming singer and songwriter. I wouldn’t categorize myself into a single genre of music, but some have said my sound falls in between neo soul and rnb. Embracing all styles of music has made me grow an interest in creating music dedicated to all genres. I recently released my debut single titled “ASAD” on all streaming platforms. This song was written and sung in the comfort of my bedroom and at my own leisure. As I’ve been making more connections in the industry it’s taught me what I want to partake in and what I want no parts in. To be able to recreate what I hear in my head on the daily has been nothing short of a dream come true. I want the world to know that any project they hear from myself is coming from the heart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Connecticut, but I grew up in North Carolina. Being that I went to college in Greensboro NC, a few of my recommended food joints are located there as others are in the Raleigh area. Starting with breakfast my top choice would be Dame’s Chicken and Waffles. You can’t go wrong with Dame’s they’ve got a good variety of food especially soul food. This could be breakfast or even brunch. If we’re talking lunch, I’d recommend Heavenly Buffaloes or Dank burrito. Being that I’m pescatarian I’m constantly trying to find places that suit my dietary needs. Heavenly Buffaloes caters to vegans/vegetarians being that they make vegan wings, sandwiches, sides, sauces, etc. Dank burrito’s title speaks for itself. The best burrito’s I’ve had yet. For dinner I enjoy going to Captains catch and village tavern. Captains catch has some of the best fish with soul food to pair along side. They’ve got great prices for the quality of food. Village tavern is the perfect dress up and sit down dinner location. The menu is full of delicious dishes and it’s always fun trying new meals whenever I go. If you’re looking to have some night time fun I’d definitely go with Boxcar Bar + Arcade. This is an adult arcade that never fails to put a smile on my face. They’ve got the best arcade games and the kindest bar tender’s. There’s no way you wouldn’t enjoy this place. Lastly, if you’re into live music, Missy Lane’s is the place for you. They’ve got a nice bar, and live entertainment. They’ve got some of the best artists in town performing regularly, and on top of that they serve food as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my mom whose done nothing but support me in every way possible along my journey. Thank you for accepting me for who I am and for raising me to not only believe in myself but to aspire to be the best version of myself. My faith is strong because of you.
