We had the good fortune of connecting with Aisha Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aisha, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of my brand “Survivor In Me Foundation Inc.”, as a domestic violence survivor is grounded in my ability to authentically share my story, inspire others, and create a meaningful impact in the world. By embracing my unique journey and leveraging it to build a purpose-driven brand, I am creating a lasting legacy that goes beyond mere business success.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a personal survivor of domestic violence leading a non-profit organization dedicated to the cause, I bring a unique and invaluable perspective that sets me apart from other organizations. My personal experience as a survivor brings authenticity and empathy to my organization’s mission, and I understand firsthand the challenges survivors face and can empathize with their struggles in a deep meaningful way. My voice as a survivor adds credibility and urgency to my organization’s advocacy efforts, and I am able to effectively raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of domestic violence.

Overall, my unique perspective as a survivor-turned-advocate enriches my organization’s work and enables me to make a profound and lasting impact in the lives of survivors of domestic violence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was planning to visit me for a week our breakfast/brunch choices throughout the week would be Atlanta Breakfast Club, Toast on Lenox, Home Grown GA, Breakfast At Barney’s, and Floating Brunch Atl. After putting something on our stomach and engaging in some great conversation, maybe a bookstore. I hear great reviews on Atlanta Vintage Books, and I am in a season of life where reading is soothing to me. Visit a few of the local parks that have hiking trails along with waterfalls, a good walk is nurturing to the soul and good for the body. My best friend knows I love water, so some much-needed time would be spent by the waterfall. I’m talking shoes off feet in, just pure relaxation. Take a walk through some of the historic sites downtown, a ride on the sky view at night to see the city lit up, and possibly some local enrichment or empowerment events that I usually find on Eventbrite.

Another place on my bucket list to check out is the Korean Spa, I am eager to enjoy the experience of part of a different culture, experience the body scrub, some self-care and authentic food. On one of those days of her visit, we would dress up and have us a tea party at The Queens Tea Party. Never got the experience as a child, and the big kid in me would love the opportunity to put on some fancy white gloves and lift my pinky finger as I sipped some tea. A day of worship would definitely be in the plans, we are both believers, pray, and exercise our faith. I often listen to Pastor Jamal Bryant, but have yet had the opportunity to visit his church, and that’s an experience I would love to share with her.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement I’ve received from T’Sharin Moncrief, founder of Women of Refined Gold Inc. As a fellow survivor of domestic violence, she has not only shared her platform with me but also inspired me to find my voice and share my own story. T’Sharin’s courage, compassion, and authenticity have been a guiding light on my journey toward healing and empowerment. I appreciate her for being a source of inspiration, support, and hope. Here’s to T’Sharin—a true survivor, advocate, and friend.

Today, as I continue on my journey of healing and empowerment, I want to express my deepest gratitude to you, my beloved children; Na’Shiya, Kamiyah, and Jaisha. Thank you for being my greatest teachers, my fiercest advocates, and my most cherished blessings. Your love, peace, and strength have been the pillars of my recovery, and I am eternally grateful for the gift of your presence in my life.
