Meet Ahoo Sarab | Yoga Studio Owner and Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahoo Sarab and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ahoo, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think when I first opened the studio, I became risk averse. I initially took the bold step of opening the studio, and then spent the next few years trying to keep it the same, which wasn’t realistic. I was afraid to make changes that would ripple and interrupt the studio’s flow. It took owning for quite a few years, and then owning through the pandemic, for me to learn that entrepreneurship and risk go hand in hand. One cannot exist without the other. Now, rather than try and avoid taking risks or big leaps, I prefer the route of educating myself to build a more resilient mindset, which allows me to adapt to changes, rather than hide from them.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own two hot yoga studios. One I own fully and the other I have a partner. Both studios have been successfully running for 8 years and 11 years. At my Roswell studio, this past November, I opened a juice bar. It has been a wonderful addition to the space, being able to work with nutrition and wellness on a deeper level. With both studios, I believe our community sets us apart. We have the most supportive and giving community of yoga practitioners. Many who have been with us from the early beginning. Our yoga family is what brings the most reward to ownership. Yoga studios don’t bring in a lot of profit, it’s a love of the practice and sharing the practice that inspires most people to studio ownership. This has been a challenge at times for us, when we worry about changing climates, economy and the culture of yoga. But, we’ve always managed to push through, because of the support we have and our students trust in our small studios. Owning a business is never easy, but it is rewarding and satisfying. And if you’re open to the teachings, it will grow you in many ways beyond running operations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love getting into nature, so I’d probably start in the north georgia mountains, going on some of our beautiful waterfall hikes. We’d visit a few of the quaint towns that are there, to see the culture.
I’d then make sure they visited the beltline, in Atlanta, and would try a few of the restaurants and shopping along the way.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business partner, Cleve Willis, for always supporting me and always belieiving in me.
