We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahoo Sarab and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ahoo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a studio was mainly born from a need I knew I could fill. And from a desire to share yoga, a practice I had loved and practiced for most of my adult life, with a community that I was attached to. I was living in London, England, and my daughter was only two months old. I had practiced yoga for 17 years at this point, and had been teaching a little, here and there. Each morning, we’d walk to a local ashram and take a yoga class. The idea to open a studio was born from this experience. I started putting together a business plan. I moved two more times after London, to Ukraine, and then back to America. It wasn’t until I moved back to Roswell, my home town, that I got serious about opening a hot yoga studio. I dusted off my original business plan and adjusted it to fit the new model and got to work.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Korsi Yoga was started from a deep love of yoga, as both a physical practice and also a spiritual one. As both my understanding and practice of yoga has evolved and grown in over 31 years, so has yoga in the world. We try to keep this in mind, as we weave all 8 limbs of yoga into our classes, and we try to keep a balance between the students desire for a challenging, physical practice, with the more subtle healing and expanding qualities of allowing yoga to guide you to a dive into self-awareness. Living a daily yoga practice, in all tenets of the art form, is as complex and challenging as owning a yoga studio has proven to be. It has taken constant attention, learning, acceptance, flexibility and allowing, the same as a well balanced yoga practice on the mat will be.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of people were there for me during the time of opening my studio. But probably the person who encouraged me the most was my mom. She’s pretty fearless herself, having owned and managed successful hair salons for most of my life. So she understands small business and what it takes. She gave me the confidence I needed to bravely open a studio, reminding me that yoga had always been a passion for me and that I had talked about opening a studio for quite a few years already. She helped me see what I couldn’t and gave me that extra push I needed.
