We had the good fortune of connecting with Agnes Pagan-Hosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Agnes, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
For years, I struggled with finding work- life balance. Naturally, when you are doing something you are very passionate about and enjoy, it’s easy to put a lot of your energy into it. However, at one point I experienced extreme burnout because I was trying to do everything at once in order to reach a destination. I had to embrace what I call a “Healthy Hustle” mindset and accept that the entrepreneurial journey is a marathon, not a sprint.

What should our readers know about your business?
My entrepreneurship journey started in 2013, while working as a full-time Director of Sales in the healthcare industry. I had just relocated to the DMV area with my new position and after 6 short months, I knew I had to create a different space to be able to utilize my gifts and maximize my mental health background. Originally, I started as a part-time mental health therapist and later added life coaching to my repertoire in hopes to reach people who struggled with going to therapy due to the many negative stereotypes. Over the years, my clientele slowly started to evolve partly because of my love for Sales/Marketing and business development naturally started to show up in my sessions with clients and friends began referring clients to me because of my personal business experience. It wasn’t until I relocated my coaching practice to Atlanta, GA that I found myself working only with a lot more aspiring and new entrepreneurs. I absolutely love supporting clients as they birth ideas, but I realized women Needed more than just coaching in order to thrive as entrepreneurs. This epiphany is what birthed The StartHER Tank in late 2019.

The StartHER Tank is a business resource hub for new and aspiring Fempreneurs. We support women in business with the development of their business ideas via our mobile application, events and membership programs that provide on-demand coaching support. We’re excited about hosting our first pitch competition in October 2021.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love that Atlanta offers a wide variety of things to do – from nature walks, historic sites, to good trap brunches – the possibilities are truly endless.

A few places I love to take family and friends to are Piedmont Park for a breath of fresh air and a cute view. Then, brunch is always a good idea. Some of my favorite brunch spots include, Highland Bakery, Milk & Honey, Another Broken Egg Cafe, or Juice Heads for something light. Buckhead Shoppes is also a fav for cute dinner or shopping experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my tribe. Not only are they one of my sources of motivation and encouragement but they are constant reminders that life and experiencing success is so much better when you are surrounded by genuine love. I appreciate each and every one of you.
