We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Sienkowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrienne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My great-grandfather opened a small community grocery store during the Great Depression in Hartsville, South Carolina. My grandfather started a USDA-approved meat processing plant and organic farm during the height of the Civil Rights era. His company, Lynn’s Meats, went on to become one of the first 8(a) certified businesses in South Carolina.
Continuing on the entrepreneur path, my Dad, Dr. Louis B. Lynn, a former R&D executive at Monsanto, went on to open the largest minority-owned Commercial Landscape and Construction company in South Carolina. After years in corporate, I felt a calling to start something where I could work with small businesses.
What should our readers know about your business?
After working in my father’s business, I realized that small business is the heartbeat of this country. There is passion, blood, sweat and tears to build a business and I have so much respect for people who leap into this role. It is not for the faint of heart. It can certainly be rewarding, but people seem to focus and see on the end game. There is a lot in the middle: sleepness nights, uncertainty, fear. That’s why this business was so attractive to me, it combined two things that I love: small business and the beauty industry.
The opportunity to work with entrepreneurs in the beauty industry was something that was an exciting fit for me. My husband and I looked at a lot of different businesses, but found a kindred spirit with the IMAGE Studios team when we met the team.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I wish I was that interesting! Best time ever? You have to see the historic sites in Atlanta. This is the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. There is so much rich history here to see and learn. As a passionate and avid CLEMSON football fan, I have to say the College Football Hall of Fame is a must see for any college football fan. World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium are favorites for my family. I love going to Avalon and Halcyon – great shopping! I can go door to door enjoying so many restaurants: Superica, Smokejack when my extended family is in town, my cousin binged on the Burnt Ends when he was in town. MochiNut recently opened here, and it has become a favorite of my kids. For coffee, I absolutely love FUEL Coffee, the owners are amazing. I haven’t found a thing on the menu that I won’t thoroughly enjoy. Pizza, I have to go with Campania with the wood fire authentic Italian pizza. Just delicious.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family. I’m so fortunate to be able to stand on the foundations they’ve laid. The IMAGE Studios family. This is a fantastic group of owners that are supportive, passionate about their business and the businesses who have place their trust in IMAGE Studios.
The IMAGE Studios Professionals. This is an amazing, talented, diverse group of beauty professionals that have fire, insight, and drive that inspires me every day.
