We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Giordano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve wanted to work with animals since I was a young girl, but it never came to fruition. While traveling with my husband for work he and I had this idea of opening a pet boutique after we retired. We decided to open one earlier when we were looking for warehouse space for his business and came across a space that we thought would work for him and for myself. This coupled with the fact that our kids are in college/working and have lives of their own left Me with a lot of time on my hands. We also have 5 (yes 5) dogs of our own that we wanted to be able to include in our daily work life as well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are located in downtown Woodstock, Georgia. We offer premium food, treats, clothing, toys, accessories and grooming services. We are knowledgeable in dog food nutrition for the food and treats we carry. We also offer free dog friendly Puppucino’s any day of the week! Our groomers have pups of our own and understand that it can be unsettling to leave your pup somewhere to be groomed. A new place can be scary for pups as well. We try to create a caring and loving atmosphere for both pup and pup-parents from the moment you walk in our door by asking several questions about your pup and how you’d like for us to groom your pup by looking at photo’s and together going over your pups coat to ensure that we understand what the customer has in mind. At the end of the day, what is most important to me as the shop owner is to know that my customers feel good about leaving their sweet pup in our care and that they are also just as happy when they come back to pick up!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would love to begin by going shopping right here in downtown Woodstock! I love supporting my local vendors as much as they support me. Afterward, dinner and drinks at my favorite Brazilian restaurant in Atlanta, Fogo De Chao. The Battery would also be a fun place to visit if visiting for a few days. Atlanta has so much to offer when it comes to fun!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout and recognize my husband, Carlos Giordano. He is my ROCK, plain and simple. Wags & Wiggles Pet Boutique was completely renovated by him while the world was on lockdown due to Covid. It was a complete demo, every single wall, all doors, cabinets were removed. He then rewired the whole space which is 2200 sq ft for electricity. Repainted, pulled up carpet replaced flooring, repaired HVAC system, plumbing and more! I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for his hard work and loving commitment to getting the job done. It’s amazing, he’s always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. It was a huge risk, but with his love, support, encouragement and his faith in me, we were able to open our doors this past June. In these past 8 months we have remained successful with a growing client base in retail and able to open our grooming services early, which was not planned until the end of this year. Without Carlos, none of this would of been possible. He is always happy, always positive and always loving he’s just perfection to me.
