We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, what’s your definition for success?
I define success as freedom – freedom to work when, how and wherever you want. The freedom to make money while you sleep, control over when and how you make money, to be able to travel when you want and give back freely. Sucess is legacy, generational wealth and waking up every day to a life you love and are proud of creating.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My business is unique in that it specifically and only focuses on Postpartum Care and Support! I am a Postpartum Coach and Certified Lactation Counselor. I have a heart for babies and a growing passion for everything postpartum! My mission is to prepare, educate and support experienced and expectant moms in their postpartum journey through virtual postpartum coaching, postpartum text and email support, courses, e-books, guides and planners. A postpartum coach is a guide, mentor, cheerleader, advocate, safe place and accountability partner. As a CLC, I can provide basic breastfeeding education and general support throughout the lactation journey.
The Postpartum Nook specializes in helping others understand what postpartum is, the different phases, pillars, why it’s so important and how to properly plan for it. There’s such a tangible gap in postpartum care and support from women only getting 1 postpartum visit 4-6 weeks after birth to the lack of knowledge, resources and paid parental leave benefits provided for growing families.
The word postpartum quite literally means after birth. Postpartum ≠ Depression and therefore should not be used as a replacement for “postpartum depression” as they are two completely different things! Postpartum is a beautiful, unique, fragile, joyous, vulnerable time that should be celebrated and planned for! It is a time of great transition for babies adjusting to the world and women (re)entering into motherhood. Because of that families need to be supported, nurtured and mothers need to be mothered and held during this exciting and life changing transition; that’s where The Postpartum Nook steps in!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a great question – there’s so much to do, see and eat in and around ATL.
Day 1: Atlanta Breakfast club, Nutwood Winery in LaGrange, Mojave in Sandy Springs
Day 2: Oy! for breakfast, The World of Coca Cola, Ra Sushi Happy Hour
Day 3: First Watch for breakfast, The College Football Hall of Fame, STK Happy Hour
Day 4: Toast on Lenox for breakfast, Georgia Aquarium, Cypress Street Pint & Plate
Day 5: Botanical Gardens, Avalon in Alpharetta
Day 6: Chatuea Elan
Day 7: Tupelo Honey for Brunch, Beltline, Ponce City Market to shop and eat
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My awesome support system and mentor definitely deserve some credit and recognition in my story! My friends, family and birthwork sisters have been incredily supportive in my entrepreneurial endeavors – liking, sharing, purchasing my products and words of encouragement to keep going and fulfill my dream. My amazing birthworker network has become so much more than that, it’s become a sisterhood where we uplift and encourage each other along our respective journeys. Back in August of 2021, I hired a business mentor that specifically shapes and prepares birthworkers to thrive in the birthwork industry. She helped instill confidence within myself and vision, and provided the structure I was missing.
