We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Castro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, how do you think about risk?
Risk, to me, is a deeply personal concept, influenced by individual goals, aspirations, and passions. I view risk as the act of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, often involving tasks that we might not typically undertake. It’s a crucial element for personal and professional growth, providing an opportunity to showcase our true capacities and talents.

In my perspective, taking risks is about embracing the chances that present themselves daily. These opportunities, even though they may seem daunting at times, serve as pathways to success and achievement. Whether it’s in the realm of work, personal life, or academics, risks are the doors we sometimes need to open to reach our goals.

I’ve come to understand that the fear of judgment or the uncertainty of outcomes should not hinder us from taking risks. Stepping out of my comfort zone has taught me the liberating power of self-belief and intuition. This shift in mindset has had a profound impact, leading to healthier relationships, a more fulfilling career, and an overall enjoyment of life’s offerings. I’ve learned that taking risks is not just a leap into the unknown but a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From a young age, I had a deep love for the world of fashion and luxury. This love led me to make a bold decision at 18 – leaving my home in El Salvador to pursue my bachelor’s degree in the fashion capital of the world, Paris. While I was familiar with the French language and culture due to my education in a French high school, the challenges of being on a different continent and away from my family were significant. However, fueled by my passion for fashion and unwavering family support, I embraced the opportunity and spent four and a half transformative years in Paris.

My time in France has been instrumental in providing me with a diverse skill set through practical experiences, including internships with renowned brands like Boon Paris and La Bouche Rouge Paris. These experiences allowed me to actively contribute to product development, conduct market research, and manage e-commerce initiatives. And even during a pandemic, I discovered the beauty of being present and cherishing life’s little moments.

My academic journey continued as I pursued my dream of obtaining an American degree. Accepted into SCAD, I embarked on a new adventure, leaving Paris with a heavy heart but excited to follow another dream.

What sets me apart is not just my academic background and practical exposure but my unwavering passion, creativity, and positive attitude that I bring to everything I do. I believe in mindfulness, making each day an opportunity to be present and happy. I am particularly passionate about early mornings, the beauty of sunsets, enjoying a cup of coffee, indulging in a good book, finding comfort in cozy places, taking trips to the beach, and of course, my love for fashion and beauty.

I am proud of my journey, the challenges I’ve overcome, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s say that my friend is visiting Paris for a week.

Days 1-2: Classic Icons

We’d start with the timeless allure of the Eiffel Tower, indulging a long walk along the Seine. Lunch in the charming streets of Le Marais would be a must, followed by immersing ourselves in the artistry of the Louvre. As evening falls, we’d venture up to Montmartre for a delightful dinner with Parisian views.

Days 3-4: Art and Culture

Our focus shifts to art and culture, with the Musée d’Orsay and a leisurely lunch in Saint-Germain. After exploring the enchanting Jardin des Tuileries, we’d delve into the world of fashion at Le Bon Marché. Evenings would be spent savoring the vibrant atmosphere of the Latin Quarter.

Days 5-6: Hidden Delights

Le Marais would take us on a journey through hidden gems and local patisseries. A picnic at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont offers a tranquil break, leading to an exploration of the artsy Canal Saint-Martin and a lively dinner in Belleville.

Day 7: Farewell Views

Our last day would include the serene Père Lachaise Cemetery, a picturesque Seine cruise, and a visit to the iconic Shakespeare and Company bookstore. We’d conclude our Parisian adventure with a rooftop dinner, toasting against the backdrop of the illuminated Eiffel Tower.

Must see places:

Throughout the week, we’d find ourselves drawn to the magnetic energy of Le Marais, the artistic charm of Montmartre, the intellectual vibes of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the bohemian allure of Canal Saint-Martin.
