We had the good fortune of connecting with Adjoa Darkwa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adjoa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business came about through the realization of the fact that I can gain freedom instead of being stuck or bound in a 9-5 office career. I love the flexibility of having multiple streams of income without directly working under someone. I’m able to take care of myself more and make an impact on my community by volunteering even more. I can effectively network and connect with amazing professionals and most important of all spend more time with family and loved ones.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an online store business owner, social media manager and virtual assistant while pursuing an MD degree. I think what sets me apart from others is the exceptional customer service i give. I love to have an 1 on 1 with my clients or customers to build a bond and understand what their wants out and hear out their constructive criticism. I was able to get to where i am today by discipline and putting together a system. Obviously running a business is not easy. But you need a support system and individuals that run successful businesses as mentors. I want the world to know that i’m a hardworking, diligent woman here to help and serve my community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to well known brunch locations, african cuisine, famous fast food places such as in and out along with steakhouses. Defietney go out to hot nightlife spots in the area. In my view, the fun and interesting places to go check out is the wndr museum and the museum of ice cream in Chicago. They are cute and fun places to go!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my parents for motivating me and pushing me to be who I am. I also want to thank my partner for being there for me every inch of the way and being supportive in all aspects of my journey. I’m thankful for my friends that are in my life at this moment, they have been supper supportive through my ups and downs.
