We had the good fortune of connecting with Adashia Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adashia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time, I was working at the post office and I was very hesitant about leaving to pursue reiki but I knew I needed to make a change because I was very unhappy with where I was at. I was very much awakening into my spirituality. I decided to lean more on my spirituality and walk out on faith than to worry about all the things that could possibly go wrong in the process. Once I made the decision, I just dived in head first. It’s been a learning process the whole ride but I wouldn’t change a single thing!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a reiki practitioner and educator. I have a deep passion for educating people about reiki because most people have never even heard of it but it is life altering. As a quick intro, reiki is an ancient energy healing technique that allows you to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I am proud to say that Beyoncé gave me the name New Foundations Reiki based on her song “Break My Soul”. I was having a really tough time at work and was looking for a change. Reiki allows someone to be exactly who they want be and unapologetically. Let go of all the beliefs that are engrained into you from a child that you don’t even subscribe to and start over from the ground up!

This road hasn’t been easy but I’ve learned to listen to my intuition. I’ve also learned I have to do it regardless of how scared, tired or frustrated I am!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all we are doing brunch!! One of my favorite spots is The Real Milk & Honey in College park. Some other spots to hit in the AM is the Fig Tree Cafe in Jonesboro; they are the cutest coffee spot around! Thumbs up is another good breakfast spot!

For entertainment we are going skating at Cascade (they do classes on Wednesday). Ponce City Market is very much a must see at night! Illuminarium Atlanta is very immersive and I would recommend. Not to toot my own horn but I would recommend stopping by New Foundations Reiki for a very relaxing experience.

For dinner I would say Frida’s in Fayetteville. The Hudson Grille in little 5 points (the fishbowl drink is meant to be shared so be cautious). Mr. Krabs Hut is my favorite go to.

I don’t get to do much shopping but I love metaphysical shops so I’ll list a few of my favorites: Garden Girl Teas (Hampton), Mystik Moon (Jonesboro), Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore (Sandy Springs), Crystal Blue (Little 5 Points), The Honey Pot (Little 5 Points.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to take the time to recognize my whole family in supporting me in my life changing decision! Particularly, my husband, Fea Reed because he has supported me 100% in this whole process. I also want to thank Diane Stein who is the reason why I chose to become involved in reiki and is also my teacher.
