We had the good fortune of connecting with Acecue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AceCue, what inspires you?
I am inspired by several things, one of those being music. When I hear good melodies and singing or nice raps, it makes me want to rap. I am also inspired by emotion and life circumstances-using music as a means of getting weight off my chest and expressing myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to my art, I am always striving to maintain a lyrical standard while carrying smooth flows. I can become or mold to any part of music or a beat and add to it based off the vibes I’m on-I think that’s versatile. Musicality is a big strength of mine. Being a student of rap and music gives me a different ear for music and sounds. It’s also important to me that I am saying a message or that my words have meaning and not just rapping a rap.

I think the biggest challenge is the mental aspect, when everything isn’t going how you thought it would go, reminding yourself of why you started and keeping the fun in it all while being serious with your art.

I call myself AceCue or Bobby Cue because my car is my meditation point when I’m in traffic on the way to work or home. A lot of my music is actually done while I’m driving-that’s my creative spot. I’m competitive and being from Clay Co, where the motor speedway is right there, I like to drive fast so I always think about the Ricky Bobby quote ” If you ain’t first, you’re last” and that’s how I approach music as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day One- We would be going into the city because that’s what people are talking about when they say Atlanta. It has all the popular spots and bars (Mangos, Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, Hattie Mae’s, BQE and Boogaloo). If it’s a lady friend hit Fin & Feathers or Cirque for daiquiris and then the night scene on Edgewood-it’s one of my go to spots.
Day Two- Let’s hit the belt line or maybe catch a Braves game at Truist Park, plus there is plenty of other stuff to do up at The Battery. Then we could really stay in Marietta all day and hit up a little sports bar I go to, La Chingada. They really have everything you could possibly be in the mood for-good Mexican food, drinks, hookah and music.
Day Three- We got to do brunch in the city at Breakfast club or Snooze. If we feeling fancy we can slide to Buckhead and get brunch at The Hive. Afterwards I would take them to Lenox Mall so they can see what all the “hype” is about and then end the afternoon at Top Golf.
Day Four- We have to kick shit on the Southside cause that’s home and where I be at daily. I got a caribbean spot in Riverdale called Tropical, it’s a must try. We could also go to College Park and hit Nouveau, Harold’s or Dwarf House for a different vibe and maybe Old Nat for the culture.
Day Five- Spend a day at Trap Music Museum since Atlanta rap culture is so hot right now, let them catch some vibes there before we slide to Little 5 Points. I love the vibes in L5P and of course after we shop the plaza and walk around we got to grab a burger at Vortex.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I haven’t had a mentor in my particular craft but I’d have to shoutout the Home Team-they are my current support system. They are my day ones, Southside shit, and my manager-we push each other to keep going after life and to not give up. I have over 100 songs I haven’t released yet and they are always telling me “put it out”, “what are you waiting on” and it drives me to not quit on myself and keeps me pressing into my talent.
