We had the good fortune of connecting with Acacia Markel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Acacia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well , I was always quiet growing up. I used poetry and dance to speak for me, and after a while I got really good and combined those skills with music. It felt like second nature, and I knew I didn’t want to have a career that felt forced.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart is that I literally have no box to be put in. My first two singles had completely different sounds because I want the world to know there is no one sound or style for me, and I’m even more excited to explore other genres. The journey was not easy at all, but I surrounded myself with a very loving and supportive creative family, and honestly they are how I got over a lot of challenges. I learned that I don’t have to do everything alone. In fact it’s impossible to do that. I also want the world to know that I don’t just do music because I think I’m good at it ,but it’s authentic and how I communicate and express myself to other people and Spirit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For brunch , we would definitely grab some stuffed papusas at Buenos Dias Cafe. Then to work off the calories, we would walk the trail at Cascade Springs Nature Preserve and meditate a little. To end the night perfectly I would suggest going to Revery VR Bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friend who goes by the name of Hype is a wonderful musician himself, and he never let me give up. I honestly thought nothing I did artistically was “different” or special but he helped me see otherwise.
