Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
“”To the risk takers go the spoils!” In my career I took the risk of going out on my own and starting my own practice as a counselor. It was a big step for me. I worked as an employee for years and started my practice as a side hustle, but I was scared to go full time because I valued job security and did not want to risk losing a regular paycheck. I was expressing this to a cousin of mine who had a full time landscaping business. As I was expressing this fear of not having job security to him, he looked at me like I was crazy and said “Job Security? If you work for someone else , There is no job security.” This simple statement hit me hard. He need say no more. I was in total agreement. I believe that time equals life and if an employer controls my time, he also controls my life. So I eventually quit my job and went full time. Strangely enough when finally made the leap, I made more money and had less stress than when I was working as an employee. Not to mention I controlled my time, and therefore my life. And I was not depending on someone else for security. I finally put my big boy pants on and took the risk. “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” – Ben Franklin
