We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Pierce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Like many others, COVID directly impacted my profession as a bartender. It was a difficult time as I had immense experience in this field, bartending in 4 different countries, including a long stint in the British Virgin Islands. I’m what the industry consider a “flair bartender” performing acrobatic tricks with bottles, tins, and sometimes fire. Growing up with Mimes for parents, performing all over the world was the norm for me as a child. Their love for performing and being self employed instilled a passion for entrepreneurship from a young age. After everything went to hell in a hand basket I found a love for woodworking and decided to pursue my love of nature and art and founded Southern River Tables.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I formed Southern River Tables with one thing in mind, creating one-of-kind beautiful products with what nature provided. Our motto is “Inspired by our passion to explore, interpreted through our love of nature” I found a unique niche of combining my love of Chess and Nature. It definitely isn’t easy. Every single day I have to find motivation to continue to push myself and this company. Finding humor and joy in your mistakes (as they will be plentiful) is also key.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My guilty pleasure is definitely Six Flags! I’ve always loved theme parks and roller coasters. When it comes to nightlife I used to work at Tongue & Groove and currently still bartend at Thirty in Buckhead. Of course I’d also take them to an Atlanta United game where we could cheer on the 5 Stripes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely a few! But my biggest support has come from my beautiful wife who has supported me since day one, and my business partner Daniel who helps make it all happen on the production side of things.
