We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is required in order to succeed. Everyone who is successful has taken some type of risk in order to get to the position where they are at. Taking risks has played a significant role in my life and creative career. I would not have been able to accomplish all of my achievements without taking a risk. I am a person who is big on “you will never know unless you try” and that has been the key to my success. I take risks simply for the benefit of myself and not other people. So many opportunities have presented themselves to me due to me taking risks. I would feel complacent and stagnant if I did not take risks. I feel as though that I have not taken enough risks yet, though. I know that my potential is endless and if I continue to be a risk-taker the sky is the limit for me. Having a great support system has also only motivated me more to take risks that will be necessary for my personal growth in all areas of my life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a fashion creative as I do not like to classify myself into one niche. I love fashion, but I am also a creative director and model. I am most proud of my growth in this past year. Although 2020 was a crazy year, it has allowed me to tap into my creative mind and experience things I have never done before. I have improved mentally, physically, and spiritually as well. I was able to travel and meet new creatives across the country and have strengthened my creative direction process. Every creative will always face challenges, but I learn to tackle them through simply creating. Persevering through my creativity is one of the greatest underrated blessings in my life. I am able to just think freely about anything I choose. Struggling with creator’s block is probably the biggest challenge I have faced though. For the entirety of March, I was out of creative projects and deleted my social media for a couple of weeks due to my creative thinking not cooperating. I just would like everyone to know that hard work will always pay off and someone is always watching you. Keep going after what you want and my end goal is to just be an inspiration to others, but mainly other black creatives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, wow. I love this question. I am a big foodie and I always love trying new restaurants. If my friend was visiting for the week I would definitely take them to a few of my favorite brunch spots which include Milk and honey and Palette 22. They are so good and the menu is huge. I would also take them to crumble cookies which is a new cookie place near my area and of course an ice cream shop. I love ice cream! We would definitely hang out in DC as I think that is the best place to take tourists or people who are not from this area. There is a lot to do and experience down there. I am also a huge fan of thrift shops and fall in love with them each and every time I walk into one. We would definitely go there and browse for a couple of hours, there are always hidden gems in thrifts. Then, we would end off the week with a photoshoot creatively directed by myself and shot by my amazing, talented friend Moon. You can’t leave the DMV and expect to not leave with some pictures. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All of the support I receive from my family, friends and random strangers on the internet is who I want to dedicate this shoutout to. It allows me to remain motivated and to keep producing high quality content. Without them, I don’t know where I would be at this exact moment.
