We had the good fortune of connecting with AARON ARCHIE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AARON, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was that there was an alarmingly small amount of representation within the animation industry (as far as studios are concerned). And having a pretty good understanding of what it takes (and knowing others that probably have an even greater knowledge), I decided to jump out there and see just how high my company could soar.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m different from most artists because while I can draw by hand (began drawing as a toddler), I am even better drawing digitally, I can animate, design and virtually everything within Adobe Creative Suite (video and audio editing, build websites, etc.). I got to where I am professionally after enjoying a good degree of success freelancing while in school and it only made sense to give it a go professionally full-time.
It was definitely not at all easy, but gaining connections and networking do help make it easier. One of the biggest lessons I learned was not to fold on my price, because at the end of the day, clients will pay for your self if you show that you can solve a problem.
I would like the world to know that my brand specializes in multimedia content and will be one of the leaders of the animation industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone was coming to visit me in Los Angeles, we’d have an almost unfair amount of things to see and go do. There’s a fancy restaurant right off the ocean in Malibu that I’d definitely recommend we go to. Next, on the way back, we’d have to stop in Santa Monica and see the world famous pier. As far as places to visit, there’s Hollywood Blvd with the Walk of Fame and the celebrity tour busses. And depending on the time of year, there’s basketball (Lakers), football (Rams) or baseball (Dodgers) to watch, either live in person or at one of the many spots in LA Live (downtown).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Robb Armstrong and Aaron McGruder. Seeing Jump Start as well as The Boondocks in the daily newspaper was very interesting and gave me confidence that I too could make a mark in the cartoon industry.
