We had the good fortune of connecting with 614ase and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 614ASE, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The decision that was really imperative for me would have to be choosing to stick with my passion at times where my dreams really just seemed like dreams. When you’re chasing something that people around you don’t understand or have never seen , their innate instinct most times will be skepticism. I think it was important for me to block out that noose and find people that shared the same ideas , but also challenged me to grow. At the end of the day we get one life and while I definitely can take advice , I’ve learned t take it with a grain of salt.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love art. Art is in everything from the cars we drive to the coffee mugs we use. Art is the greatest form of expression for me. I make music and I’m just starting to shoot videos. I think what sets me apart is my ability to create feeling in my songs. When I create chords or choose samples they reflect how I feel that particular day. Some are happy , some are melancholic but they are always true to me. I’m really just proud to be blessed enough to do what I said I wanted to do when I was a kid if I’m being honest.

Theres not really a clear cut answer for how I got to where I am professionally but some things that helped me were God, networking and leveraging my connections, and patience. The road was definitely not easy , I’ve doubted myself more times than I can count but even in the midst of that I always out trust in the process. I think having tunnel vision is what has kept me in the game by far.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1:
We’d have to Start the trip by walking or biking along The BeltLine. It’s a must for anyone visiting Atlanta and one of my favorite places to hang out, especially when the weather’s nice. We’d grab some coffee and pastries from Ponce City Market and explore the shops there before hitting the Eastside Trail. For dinner, we’d hit the Krog Street Market

Day 2:
We’d spend the morning diving into history at the MLK Jr. National Historical Park and his childhood home. Afterward, we’d head to Sweet Auburn Curb Market for some local bites. In the evening, we’d check out Edgewood Avenue—it’s the perfect spot if you’re into partying, with its lively bars and nightlife scene.

Day 3:
We’d visit the World of Coca-Cola to learn about its history (and try all those international flavors), then probably head next door to the Georgia Aquarium. For dinner, I’d take them to Mary Mac’s Tea Room for a classic Southern meal.

Day 4:
We’d explore the Atlanta Botanical Garden and I’d show them the cool landscapes and exhibits.

Day 5:
This day would be for art and culture. We’d stop by the High Museum of Art to check out its incredible collections.

Day 6:
Studio day! I’d show them where I work (or create), and we’d spend time hanging out

Day 7:
I’d Wrap up the trip with some outdoor adventure at Stone Mountain Park.

I spend most of my time in Atlanta in the studio but I’d definitely show whoever is visiting a great time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I have to thank my mother and father. Without them believing in what I could do from a early age I wouldn’t be able to do what I do now. I have to thank the friends I met at Clark Atlanta and Clark Atlanta as a whole for helping mold me into the person I am today. I want to thank all the artists and label people that have trusted my sound and helped give me a bigger platform to showcase my art. I also want to thank the people who told me I couldn’t do it , because without that maybe I wouldn’t work so hard lol
