We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At a very young age, I was gifted with creativity and a passion to give back to mankind. Providing a service that is tailor-made to the customer’s needs is always my goal and pleasure. Nothing is more satisfying than creating memorable gifts for individuals that cannot be store-bought.

After requests started to pile up for my custom products and event décor in 2016, I decided it was time to open Purposeful Design, LLC.

During Covid, when we were not able to attend events, I decided it was time to expand my business. My mink eyelash line, Lovely Lash Line, as well as my annual women  hoodie line, was created.

Now that the world is opening back up and large events are beginning to happen, my main focus has been building a clientele for more events, such as weddings and baby showers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Neither starting, nor sustaining a business is easy. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. When I am worn out I remind myself that my business is MY baby. I created it so that people can have customized gifts that can’t be store bought. With that being said, if I do not create the vision, who will? So I give my all with each item and event decors that I provide.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t be here without my support system believing in me. It blows my mind every time I see someone with a customized item that I have created out in the public, such as a hoodie, t-shirt, or even eye-lashes. My support system believed in me before I believed in myself! THEY were the ones to have me start a business instagram and remind me that if people are purchasing my items, that makes me good enough to be a business!

The biggest 2 lessons that I have learned are 1. To never give up on yourself.  2. If one-way doesn’t work, try another.  Just like parenting, entrepreneurship doesn’t come with a blueprint, everyone’s  process is different but that’s what makes the journey so beautiful and unique.

It is also important to remember, that if one business venture doesn’t work, it doesn’t mean that you can not become successful in another.

Purposeful Design LLC came about by separating myself from the average companies. What makes me different? I created a business to be diverse. I want the customer to feel the love behind my products as much as they appreciate the person purchasing it for them!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My forever go to spot will be Docs Food & Spirits. Not only have I worked there but a lot of my clientele stems from there. It’s located in Smyrna, across from The Battery and Home of the Braves! It gives you more of your neighborhood cheers bar vibes. The drinks and food are great and the close-knit family feel is even better! I have been going there for 10 years and haven’t found a place better to satisfy my “chill time”.

The Battery is also on my favorites list. Whether you want to have a game night with friends, hit a club, watch the game or just enjoy good food and ambiance, there is something to cater to everyone’s needs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my entire entrepreneur process I have had an extremely tight support system, My Family & Friends have truly been on board. From being the first people to actually purchase items from me, all the way down to attending vendor events. My best friend, Brittany Wreh, and my family  have gone above and beyond to make sure that I had whatever I needed, especially the manpower to tackle the most difficult times being an entrepreneur.

I would also like to thank the many Multi-Talented Businesswomen, such as my “Bonus Mom” Charlene “Charley” Carter, Lisa Jones and Jocelyn Polk.

From the hours of advice, opinions, decisions and assistance in the overall growth of my business, Purposeful Design LLC.I am forever grateful for the many that have stood behind me.
