We had the good fortune of connecting with Goldyard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Goldyard, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think that the most important factor behind our success is the fact that we are always authentic and true to ourselves. We’ve always been versatile and very original which can sometimes be a hindrance, it also gives us our super powers and makes us, us. Our success in the industry wouldn’t be or feel the same without our freedom to express ourselves however and whenever we feel needed.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’ve always had a love for making music and performing, we’ve both been doing it since we were kids. We created the group Goldyard to expand our brand as a business, clothing company, our artistry, and pretty much everything else we stand for. When we first made it, it was more like a group that all of our friends and peers could get behind, and they do. But it always comes back to us. People always seem to want a face to go with the brand they’re getting behind, so the music and brand always seem to go hand in hand no matter what business venture we are involved in. For us, the work never stops and we know we can always push everything further, but we still try to keep everything fresh so that the business doesn’t affect the art, which is something that can easily happen.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re visiting ATL you should definitely go to an Atlanta United game. We’ve been doing music and videos with them for a couple years and they have all the energy you could ever want in a sporting event during those games. (You could also go to an Atlanta Dream game, big shout out to the squad) You could go eat at Pappadeaux, Canoe, or 101 Steak if you want some good food. We made Goldyard in East Atlanta, so when we lived off Moreland, Daddy D’s BBQ was our spot. You could definitely try that out. Revery is a spot we like to kick it if you want to see what Atlanta is like, you could probably catch some familiar faces out there. If you’re up late and need some late night/ early morning food you can always check out R. Thomas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We just want to shout out Our families for always supporting us. It takes a village so whatever you see us do, we didn’t have a lot of people involved, but we always had the ones that have been with us from the beginning, that never left, and we appreciate them for that. Shout out to the Lord for giving us the strength to do all that we do and helping us defy all odds. Shout out to anybody that inspired us along the way and anybody that has supported us, gave us a chance, streamed our music, bought a t-shirt or anything from us, shared anything of ours, rapped or sang a lyric to a song of ours.
