We had the good fortune of connecting with Danay Nazaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Safety is a beautiful thing, and sometimes something we take for granted. For most of my life, I have probably aired on the side of caution. But I think I’m currently making up for lost time, as risks and I have become pretty well acquainted as of late. Some risks by my own doing and some not. Taking risks can be uncomfortable, and rather scary. But who ever grew while they were cozy and comfortable? What diamond was ever formed without high pressure? What faith can be built without first facing challenges and exercising perseverance? Risks have opened doors for me to see miracles happen. Risks have strengthened me. Risks have brought me to my knees. They have brought joy and pain, but ultimately when its all said and done, risks have been teachers.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What do I want the world to know about my brand and my story?? Well I think what I want people to know is that I LOVE, like, really LOOOOOVVVEEE what I do. Most of the time, it doesn’t feel like work. I’m invited into people’s live’s and people’s stories, and given the privilege of capturing it. My clients don’t feel like just clients, they feel like old friends. Who ever is in front of my camera, they are my art, and with each individual or family, I look with great intent from the other side of that lens, for the best and most authentic way to capture their essence.

Sometimes, I do wish for more time in a day. With a house, kids, errands, cooking, cleaning, PTA mommying, it leaves pretty small windows for me to pursue more growth in photography. But, for everything there is a season. And with a little creativity and intentionality, and a ton of God’s grace, everything has a way of balancing out. Personally and career wise.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is there also free babysitting? Lol I’m just going to assume that is included in this lovely hypothetical week with my bestie! Okay, so……I would probably take them up to Blue Ridge for a day or so, since its not far at all. Live our best cabin life for a couple days, hot tubs, coffee on the deck with a view and some beautiful hiking. Then come back down and spend a day in the city, I love Ponce City Market, the roof top, and the belt line. We could walk around the High Museum of Art, catch a show at the Fox Theatre. Then spend the day boating on lake Allatoona.

Not sure of which exact restaurants we’d got to, but there would be a lot of coffee, sushi and taco’s happening.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly don’t know how to pick just one! So I’ll shout out two! First, my husband Max, who is responsible for putting my first real camera in my hands. I am forever grateful. It birthed in me a passion I had not known existed. And he’s only supported me and challenged me to grow along the way. Second, my best friend Sami. She was my first session. She was the first to ever say hey, can you take pictures of my family? And that just had a ripple effect that has gifted me this journey.
