We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolyn Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolyn, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
If you want something, always, always, always, keep going.

Everything can be accomplished. 117 billion people have existed on earth. There is always someone who has done harder things. All it takes is finding the right people to help you get accomplish it. Some people think I’m a genius, that I’ve cracked algorithms to be able to find out how to make a successful business off riding motorcycles on YouTube. On paper, and in person, I am actually quite dumb. I’ve just learned to find the geniuses in whatever I want to be successful in and learn from them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The most exciting thing about YouTube is that anyone can create a sustainable business with it over just about anything. I know channels making 6-7+ figures and their videos are something as simple as tying bows on little girls hair, and another is about selling used office chairs.

The biggest mistake people make when starting YouTube is thinking they can do it on their own – that because they’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos, or because they went to film school, that they can be the best they can be alone. Anyone can make a YouTube channel, and anyone can get hundreds, thousands of views and make a pretty good side income out of just trying their best and listening to YouTube podcasts. But when I wanted to learn self defense, I didn’t watch Jackie Chan movies and just wing it. I found the best self defense martial arts I could (jiu-jitsu), found the best school near me, and went there 6x a week. YouTube is no different. This is a business. On camera, is 5% of you’re time and you’re an entertainer. Behind the scenes, 95% of the time, you’re a business owner and strategist. Don’t miss that 95% by thinking you can’t learn from the thousands of people that have gone before you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Probably Davidson Arabia – it’s Mars in Georgia, and Fernbank Science Center is a little old hidden gem amazing for the space lover,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My motorcycle instructors like Jerry and Donna Palladino, Jocelin Snow, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and many I’ve followed online, are the ones who taught me the skills to work on to go on the coolest adventures on the coolest bikes that I couldn’t handle just ‘trying my best’ on my own.

Derral Eves, a YouTube strategist behind countless successful channels such as Mr Beast, Rebuild Rescue, Bikes and Beards, is the one I owe to teaching me how to create exponential growth on my channel when I had plateau’d for years.
